Citroën Racing Formula E Team heads into the Miami E-Prix fresh off a win in Mexico City, ready to pursue a new track and the Rookie Free Practice.

Formula E has previously visited Miami twice, with races taking place at the Biscayne Bay Street Circuit and the Homestead-Miami Speedway. However, on January 31st, the Miami International Autodrome will make its FE race day debut. The new 2.32 km, 14-turn circuit will provide a challenging but action-filled weekend.

Championship leaders

Citroën Racing’s 2025/26 Formula E season has gotten off to a strong start. São Paulo saw a P3 result, while the victory and P8 in Mexico City solidified Citroën Racing, Nick Cassidy, and Stellantis Motorsport as the leaders of the Drivers’, Teams’, and Manufacturers’ Championship.

However, despite this success, Team Principal Cyril Blais highlighted the importance of staying grounded. “We’ve had a very strong start to the season, but our focus is firmly on keeping that momentum going, we know better than to take anything for granted in Formula E,” he said.

“Miami is a brand-new track for everyone, which always adds excitement and opportunity. Coming to a venue like this really shows the health of the Championship, Formula E’s fanbase continues to grow, and racing in a place as iconic as Miami highlights that. Both Nick and Jean-Éric are performing at a very high level, and we’re making sure that they have everything they need to be able to fight for another top result.”

Citroën drivers eye Miami momentum

Eager to continue his momentum, Drivers’ Standings leader and recent Mexico City E-Prix winner Nick Cassidy shared his enthusiasm for racing at the new track.

“I’m really excited to be racing at the Miami International Autodrome, it’s always something special heading to a new venue for the first time. We’ve had a great start to the season, especially with the win in Mexico City, and the momentum within the Citroën Racing team is really encouraging. Everyone’s pushing hard, the energy is high, and our focus is on continuing to build on that start and to deliver another solid result in Miami.”

While Cassidy currently sits at the top of the Drivers’ Standings with 40 points, teammate Jean-Éric Vergne sits in 12th, with 4 points.

“I’m looking forward to getting out on track in Miami – it’s a fresh track for all of us and that’s always interesting and challenging from a drivers’ perspective,” shared Vergne, who will be looking for his strong pace at the Miami E-Prix.

“After the win in Mexico City, the feeling inside the team is fantastic. We’ve had two strong races to start the season especially on Nick’s side of the garage and overall, the team has done a great job. There are a few things we can improve on my side to make sure we deliver the best weekend possible, and I’m confident we can take another step forward in Miami. I’m feeling positive and I can’t wait to get started.”

Rookie Free Practice

In addition to the main event, the weekend will feature the first Rookie Free Practice of Season 12. The session will take place on Friday afternoon at 14:30 with Frenchman Théo Pourchaire taking the wheel of the Citroën FE car.

“I’m really happy to be returning to Formula E for the rookie test in Miami, and I can’t wait to take on another new track,” said Pourchaire, who has taken part in previous FE rookie tests and practices.

The last time I drove the car was in Berlin in 2025, so it has been a little while, but I’ll be doing extensive simulator work with the team to make sure I’m as prepared as possible for the session. The Hard Rock Stadium circuit is new for everyone, so I’m looking forward to contributing to the team’s preparation and learning as much as I can in this unique environment.”

Citroën Racing’s Team Principal Cyril Blais added: “Théo has already demonstrated his talent and maturity in previous rookie sessions, and we’re delighted to welcome him back. He’s part of the family, and he delivered outstanding work for us in earlier tests. Miami presents a fresh challenge for every team, and his feedback will be invaluable as we look to build on the momentum from our successful opening rounds of the season.”
