Rising Argentine talent Trappa joins the Hitech project for 2026 Eurocup-3 debut season

Born in the Buenos Aires region, Genaro “Gino” Trappa has emerged as one of South America’s most exciting young prospects in junior single-seater racing. After beginning his karting career in 2022, he quickly built a strong reputation, highlighted by victory in the 2023 LeVanto Trophy at the Rok Cup Superfinal and multiple vice-championship finishes across major international karting series. These early achievements highlighted his speed, adaptability and competitive mindset. Consequently, Trappa transitioned into single-seater racing with strong foundations and clear momentum behind him.

Trappa stepped into Formula 4 competition in 2024, making his single-seater debut in the F4 Brazilian Championship. Throughout the season, he adapted quickly to the demands of car racing and delivered consistent results. He secured his first podium finish at Mogi Guaçu before claiming a standout victory at Interlagos, followed by further podium appearances.

By the end of the campaign, Trappa had collected multiple top-three finishes and established himself as one of the most impressive newcomers in the field. This strong debut season reinforced his potential and paved the way for his move to Europe.

The step up to Eurocup-3

Following his South American campaign, Trappa moved to Europe in 2025 to further his development. Crucially, he enjoyed a breakthrough year in the Formula 4 CEZ Championship, where he dominated the title fight. Across the season, he claimed six victories, 11 podiums, three pole positions and five fastest laps, ultimately sealing the championship with a blend of speed and consistency.

At the same time, Trappa broadened his experience by competing in the F4 Spanish Championship and the Eurocup-4 Spanish Winter Championship, while also making selected appearances in other competitive series. As a result, he gained valuable mileage across a variety of circuits and racing environments, all of which strengthened his preparation for the step up to Eurocup-3.

Thanks to his varied background and proven championship-winning pedigree, Trappa arrives at Hitech as a well-rounded and highly motivated driver. Moreover, his experience across multiple Formula 4 platforms and higher-level single-seater outings has equipped him with the technical understanding and racecraft required for the highly competitive Eurocup-3 field.

Reflecting on the announcement, Trappa said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Hitech for the Eurocup-3 season. It’s an exciting challenge and a great opportunity to continue my development in a highly competitive championship. I can’t wait to work with the team and get started.”

Meanwhile, Hitech’s management has highlighted Trappa’s qualities as a key asset to its inaugural Eurocup-3 campaign. Team Manager Bruin Beasley commented: “Gino brings proven race-winning pace and a strong competitive mindset, which will serve him well in this Eurocup-3 campaign. His experience across multiple categories and his championship success speak to his potential, and we’re pleased to welcome him to the team as we prepare for our debut season.”

Building momentum ahead of a debut season

As preparations continue, Hitech remains focused on assembling a driver roster capable of delivering strong results and accelerating the team’s learning curve. With Gino Trappa now confirmed, the squad strengthens its foundations and reinforces its intent to make an immediate impact in one of Europe’s most dynamic junior single-seater championships.
