2025 F3 driver Gerrard Xie is definitely struggling with adaptation to his new challenger. In fact, the Chinese driver is undertaking his first series in the championship, and is yet to score any point at the halfway point of the season.
The now Hitech driver began racing single seaters in 2022 and had immmediately surged to fame by winnning the Chinese F4 championship. In the following seasons he moved to Europe and competed in the GB3 and Euroformula championships, even collecting some podiums.
Highlights so far
Xie’s best performance up to date was recorded in the inaugural Sprint race of 2025 in Melbourne, where he managed to improve his starting position by nine spots to achieve a positive P16. Recovery drives are definitely a strenght for 2025 F3 driver Xie , who gained seven spots in his first ever Feature race the day after.
It is not a surprise his best performance of the 2025 season up to now has come at a street track, as Xie has historically a knack for strees circuits. In fact, he had stepped on the econd highes podium step in his first ever Macau presence in 2022.
Not only the Formula 3 posed a new and unknown challenge to the Hitech driver, but he had also never raced before at any of the tracks the series has visited up to now ( Melbourne, Sakir, Imola, Monaco and Barcelona).
What to improve?
In spite of qualifying troubles, which paired with the reduced track time and the not sufficient rookie knowledge of these first circuits, Xie recorded another positive weekend in Monaco. Although he picked up a puncture in the final stages of the Feature race, he still managed to move up eight spots and bring back home an improved P18.
In the other rounds of the triple header Xie fought hardly but cleanly, avoiding massive race crashes but also not climbing too much up the standings.
Among the aspects which are more challenging to him there is the rather string difference in tyre strenght, which calls for more resilience in tyre management. Xie also noted at the beginning of the season the incredible levelness of the 2025 F3 grid.
In the upcoming races the Chinese driver will finally compete at tracks where he has already driven before, whihc might assist him on his quest to achieve the first F3 points of his racing career. Assistance from teammates Martinius Stenshorne and Jesse Carrasquedo. Will it be the right moment for his talent to shine?
