After a difficult 2025 F3 season, Hitech TGR finished P8 in the Teams’ Championship. With a lineup that included Martinius Stenshorne, Gerrard Xie, and a mix of four other drivers for their third seat, Hitech accumulated a total of 90 points in 10 rounds. Nonetheless, 89 out of those points were collected by Stenshorne, who had an impressive second season with the team.
Hitech TGR welcomed their best race weekend in Spielberg, Austria, with a Feature Race win from their best driver, Martinius Stenshorne. Alongside that impressive victory, the Norwegian earned four Sprint Race podiums, including a P1 in Monaco. Gerrard Xie, the other consistent driver of the team, only collected one point in his rookie season, in Hungary.
What was maybe their biggest downfall this season came from their unlucky third seat. Exchanging three drivers in the span of 10 rounds consisted of a lot of restarting and adaptability. Especially when it comes to rookies, Joshua Dufek, Jesse Carrasquedo and Freddie Slater struggled to show they had what it took to compete. Finishing up the 2025 F3 season with Nikita Johnson, Hitech TGR failed to grab any additional points.
Starting the season on a high
At the debut round of the FIA F3 2025 season, Hitech TGR already claimed a podium spot in the Melbourne Sprint Race. While Xie and Dufek appeared to have a hard time finding their footing, Stenshorne wasted no time. The Norwegian driver secured a high starting position for the Sprint. Fighting hard at the front, Stenshorne’s competitiveness earned Hitech a promising result as he finished P2.
The Feature Race was less successful for the British team. While Xie was stuck in the back of the grid, Dufek climbed a couple of positions to finish just outside of points in P11. Another strong performance from Stenshorne brought Hitech 4 more points.
Compared to most of the other teams, Hitech TGR’s determination enabled them to score a good haul of points early on. Yet, their biggest achievement was ending the weekend with one of their drivers already in the top 5 of the Drivers’ Championship.
Learning experience at Sakhir
Coming up on the second round of the F3 2025 season, Hitech had a good momentum that they could maximise. Qualifying results had the team lined up for a front row Sprint start with Dufek leading the pack. While the Austrian held on to the lead on the first lap, pressure from behind led to being overtaken on Lap 2. However, the Hitech driver’s hopes for a podium finish were crushed. Dufek and Ivan Domingues collided in the final laps of the Sprint.
Meanwhile, Stenshorne managed to grab hold of another 6 points in the chaos. Even though he also lost out on his P2 early on, the Norwegian held close to the pack. He finished P5 as Xie finished at the back of the grid yet again. In a disheartening Feature Race, none of the three promising drivers managed to get close to the point-scoring positions. The Bahrain round ended up being a learning experience for Hitech as they headed into the European leg of the 2025 F3 season.
Mixed results triple header
The switch to more familiar European circuits brought both a Sprint Race win at the legendary Monaco track and plenty of hardship and disappointment. Hitech TGR’s first round of the triple header marked their worst weekend of the season. Coming up empty-handed after some frustrating Imola Round qualifying results did not soften the blow for the British team.
Jumping straight to the second round in Monte Carlo, the chaos of the overcrowded circuit did nothing to Martinius Stenshorne’s dominant drive. The Norwegian took advantage of every on-track opportunity during the Sprint Race. Taking the lead in lap 1, the Hitech driver never faltered under pressure from behind. The Feature Race tallied up another 4 points from Stenshorne’s P8 as Xie and Dufek stayed behind in the midfield.
Before the last races in Barcelona, Hitech TGR went through some internal changes. Due to his unexpectedly poor performance and his failure to collect any points, Joshua Dufek parted ways with the team. Taking his place at the Spanish GP was Jesse Carrasquedo, in hopes of more point finishes.
However, Stenshorne was still the only Hitech driver to bring points from a Feature Race P8 after an unfortunate DNF in the Sprint. It came as little surprise that Carrasquedo needed some time to adjust to the series, especially after joining mid-season. Nonetheless, Gerrard Xie’s performance looked even less satisfying than Dufek’s.
Hitech’s best race weekend
Going into the Austrian Round of the 2025 F3 season, Hitech TGR had little to no consistency in terms of results. Seemingly disadvantaged in the Feature Races so far, the British team struggled most with Qualifying. This aspect still held at Spielberg, where their best Qualifying position came from Stenshorne in P15. The Norwegian managed an impressive form as he climbed up to P7 in the Sprint, bringing on 5 points.
Then, the unexpected happened. During the Feature Race, Martinius Stenshorne fought hard, climbing the ranks and battling Tsolov for P1. Yet, there were not enough laps for the Hitech driver to make any move stick. While the Norwegian finished P2, a surprise disqualification caused him to jump into P1, effectively being named a F3 Feature Race winner.
This marked Hitech TGR’s best race weekend, both in total points over a single round (30) and in their claim over the top podium step. Additionally, Jesse Carrasquedo showed slight improvements as well, but still no points from him either.
Losing momentum at Silverstone and Spa
Coming into their home race at Silverstone with a Feature Race win was the best momentum Hitech could ask for. Nonetheless, the team went through some other changes as they decided to part ways with Jesse Carrasquedo after only two rounds. While he showed potential and the ability to improve, it was not up to Hitech TGR standards for the F3 2025 season.
Taking up Hitech’s offer, Nikita Johnson was next to step up into that third seat. The American already had some experience in the series after he briefly replaced Nicola Lacorte in Austria. Yet, the British Round followed the same pattern that Hitech TGR seemed to have fallen into. While Martinius Stenshorne managed to finish on the podium, in P2, for the Sprint, the team lost all momentum when it was time for the Feature.
Another driver change later, this time Freddie Slater took on the challenge. After he showed a lot of potential on his outing with AIX Racing earlier in 2025, Hitech TGR had him on board for the Spa-Francorchamps round. Despite Slater’s outstanding skill on track, Hitech’s only point scorer remained Stenshorne. The stability and prowess of the Norwegian in 2025 helped the team keep up in the standings despite the constant trials and errors.
Final showdown
The last two rounds of the 2025 F3 season were pretty representative of Hitech TGR’s overall issues and performance. With Nikita Johnson back again with the British team, Hungary and Monza had the potential for more point scoring.
The Hungaroring experience brought out some unexpected results from Gerrard Xie. The Chinese driver was off to a strong start with a career-best qualifying result, P4. In the Sprint Race, Xie officially became an F3 point-scorer after earning a single point. Despite the promising start of the Feature Race, the tough conditions and a small collision with Ugo Ugochukwu caused him to DNF.
Lastly, the Monza finale was a cause of joy once again. Martinius Stenshorne returned to the podium after a commanding drive for P2 in the Sprint Race. Meanwhile, Gerrard Xie and Nikita Johnson were not far behind, closing off the Sprint in the midfield. Multiple collisions and a chaotic Feature Race later, the Monza Round finished off without any other point-scoring opportunities. Notably, however, Johnson crossed the checkered flag ahead of his race-winner teammate as Xie collected another DNF.
Team Review
Hitech TGR’s 2025 season in F3 proved to have both incredible highs and frustrating lows. The team’s strongsuit remaind Martinius Stenshorne, whose dominant form allowed him to grab stunning results whenever opportunity allowed it. The Norwegian finished 2025 in P5 in the Drivers’ Standings despite the team’s uncertainty and Qualifying hiccups.
Yet, probably their biggest downfall was the unstable driver lineup. Never getting the proper chance to adapt, the third driver contenders gave it their all. Furthermore, while Gerrard Xie showed his capabilities, especially in the latter half of the season, the lack of points affected him in the standings. Set to embark on 2026 with three completely new drivers, Hitech TGR will need to take advantage of the learning opportunities the 2025 season provided them with.
