René Lammers continued to set the benchmark at Jerez by topping both Official Previous Test sessions ahead of Round 6 of the 2026 Eurocup-3 season.
The MP Motorsport rookie had already led the two days of Official Collective Testing at Jerez, where his 1:34.154 placed him 0.053s ahead of teammate Ean Eyckmans in the combined classification. Lammers remained at the front when the 30-car field returned on Thursday, recording a 1:34.212 in the opening session before setting a 1:34.546 to lead the second.
Alex Powell came closest to denying Lammers in Official Previous Test 1, finishing only 0.020s behind for Griffin Core by Campos, while championship leader James Egozi took third. Thomas Strauven then reduced Lammers’ advantage to just 0.015s in the second session, with Powell completing the top three.
The additional running provided the final preparation before a potentially decisive weekend. Egozi arrived at Jerez with a substantial championship advantage after extending his lead during Round 5 at Silverstone, while Eyckmans, Keanu Al Azhari and Lammers remained involved in the fight immediately behind him.
Official Previous Test 1: Lammers edges Powell by 0.020s
Lammers immediately carried his strong Collective Testing form into Thursday’s opening session. The MP Motorsport driver completed 13 laps and produced his 1:34.212 benchmark on his final tour, averaging 169.0km/h around the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto.
Powell delivered the closest challenge and continued Griffin Core by Campos’ strong form from the final Collective Testing session. The American set a 1:34.232 on the ninth of his 15 laps and ended only 0.020s behind Lammers.
Egozi followed in third after recording a 1:34.351. The Palou Motorsport driver sat 0.139s away from the benchmark but only 0.001s ahead of Enzo Tarnvanichkul, who placed a second Griffin Core by Campos car inside the top four.
Eyckmans completed the top five with a 1:34.499, leaving him 0.287s behind his MP Motorsport teammate. Maksimilian Popov and Strauven followed with identical 1:34.674 laps, giving Griffin Core by Campos four cars inside the leading seven positions.
Gianmarco Pradel finished eighth for MP Motorsport, while Al Azhari took ninth for Hitech. Dani Maciá completed the top 10 on his Eurocup-3 debut with Tecnicar by Amtog, 0.552s away from Lammers.
The amended classification also reflected a penalty for Strauven. Officials deleted his best lap after determining that the No. 9 driver had caused a red flag, although his remaining 1:34.674 still left him seventh.

Official Previous Test 2: Strauven closes to within 0.015s
Lammers retained first place when the drivers returned for the second session, although the margins became even smaller at the front.
The Dutchman recorded a 1:34.546 on lap eight of his ten-lap programme. His time remained 0.392s slower than the outright benchmark he established during Wednesday’s Collective Testing, but it proved enough to complete a sweep of Thursday’s two sessions.
Strauven responded strongly after losing his fastest lap in the opening session. The Griffin Core by Campos rookie set a 1:34.561 on his final lap and missed Lammers by only 0.015s.
Powell remained near the front and completed another productive session with third. His 1:34.630 left him 0.084s behind Lammers and gave Griffin Core by Campos two cars inside the top three.
Popov added another strong result for the team in fourth, although a larger 0.331s gap separated him from Powell. Al Azhari improved to fifth for Hitech with a 1:34.997, becoming the final driver within half a second of the benchmark.
Heitor Dall’Agnol led Palou Motorsport in sixth, completing 20 laps and recording a 1:35.121. Juan Cota followed in seventh ahead of Tarnvanichkul, while Egozi finished ninth with a 1:35.249. Genaro Trappa completed the top 10.
Eyckmans experienced a considerably quieter second session after finishing fifth earlier in the day. The Belgian placed 18th with a 1:35.885, while Pradel dropped from eighth in the opening session to 22nd.
Officials also deleted Feldmann’s best lap after he caused a red flag. His remaining 1:35.762 left him 16th in the final classification.

Lammers remains Jerez benchmark before Round 6
Thursday reinforced Lammers’ position as the benchmark throughout Eurocup-3’s extensive preparations at Jerez. He had already topped all three sessions on the opening day of Official Collective Testing before setting the outright 1:34.154 best on Wednesday morning. He then added another two session-leading performances during the Official Previous Test.
Powell also ended Thursday with particularly consistent form, finishing second in the opening session and third in the second. Strauven strengthened Griffin Core by Campos’ position further by taking second later in the day, leaving the team with three cars inside the top four of Official Previous Test 2.
Egozi’s Thursday programme proved less consistent on the timesheets. He finished third and only 0.139s behind Lammers in the opening session before dropping to ninth later in the day, although his position in the championship remained considerably stronger than those of the drivers ahead of him during Testing.
The Palou Motorsport driver arrived at Jerez with a commanding advantage after a season in which he had consistently extended his lead. The championship picture entering the Jerez weekend placed Egozi comfortably ahead of Eyckmans, while Al Azhari and Lammers remained among those attempting to prevent an early title celebration.
Lammers, Eyckmans and Al Azhari therefore approached the competitive portion of the weekend with two objectives. All three needed strong results to strengthen their own positions behind Egozi while simultaneously attempting to keep the title fight alive beyond Jerez.
The Thursday sessions offered further evidence that Lammers possessed the pace to challenge. After seven Testing sessions across three days at Jerez, the MP Motorsport rookie had topped five of them and retained the outright benchmark as Eurocup-3 prepared to move into Qualifying and racing.
