FP3 has been completed at the 2026 F1 Austrian GP ahead of qualifying later on Saturday, view the full results here.
On Friday, championship leader Kimi Antonelli was fastest in both FP1 and FP2. The McLarens of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris were his closest challengers in the second session, as George Russell struggled with understeer on his qualifying simulation.
Ferrari had a tough day, looking off the pace on both short and long runs. Lewis Hamilton was only P5, with Charles Leclerc down in P8. They were 0.597s and 0.841s off the pace respectively. Max Verstappen shaded his fierce rival to be 4th fastest.
In the midfield, it was close. Liam Lawson was the fastest in P9. However, the New Zealander, Bortoleto, Gasly and Lindblad were covered by just 0.143s. Hülkenberg and Colapinto did not nail their laps. Haas and Williams looked to be the slowest midfield runners on the evidence of Friday.
Despite having a clean FP2, Aston Martin were a staggering 1.4s behind Williams on the qualifying simulations. Still, it went better than Cadillac’s. Sergio Pérez stopped on track in both sessions, with Valtteri Bottas also down on running in FP2 thanks to a car issue. Nonetheless, a strong soft tyre run in FP1 from the Finn suggested Cadillac could potentially challenge the lower end of the midfield group.
