The Gilles-Villeneuve Circuit, of 4.361km, hosted a series of competitive sessions throughout the weekend, with a debut Sprint race. On Sunday, the 68-lap race ended with a fourth consecutive victory for Kimi Antonelli.
The starting grid was led by both Mercedes, with George Russell in P1 and Antonelli in P2. Reigning champion Lando Norris stole first place immediately at the start, after two extra formation laps. Yet, both McLarens fell to the back as they had to pit to replace their starting intermediate tyres, and Antonelli took the lead.
After a tough battle with his teammate, last year’s winner, Russell, was taken out of the race for technical failure. On lap 40, Norris also faced problems as he stopped in the run-off area at Turn 10. Additionally, Lindblad did not start the race, while Alonso, Albon, and Perez did not finish it.
Max Verstappen tried to defend his 2025 P2, but Lewis Hamilton overtook him on lap 62. Still, the Dutch driver completed the top three on the last step of the podium.
