The starting grid was led by the current championship leader, Kimi Antonelli. Next to him, Verstappen, who was out of the race on the first lap after staying still as the lights went out. Behind them, Hamilton, Leclerc, Hadjar, Russell, Piatri, Norris, Gasly, and Lawson completed the top 10.
Multiple drivers did not finish the race. While Norris, Bearman, Bottas, and Verstappen retired due to different issues, Stroll and Leclerc caused safety cars and a red flag after crashing into the barriers. After the restart, Sainz was hit and retired.
The 3.337km circuit hosted a 78-lap race, which crowned Mercedes’ Antonelli as its winner. The young driver has started on pole on five occasions and has won in the last five races in 2026. In the drivers’ championship, as it stands, Antonelli leads with 156 points, while Hamilton is now second.
