In a rather unusual way, the X account of the Dutch GP has leaked the calendar of which six rounds will host F1 Sprint races in 2026.

There will be a significant amount of changes to 2025. While China and Miami will once again host Sprints, Canada, The Netherlands and Singapore will all host one for the first time.

Lewis Hamilton took his first win with Ferrari in Shanghai earlier this year in the Sprint race.

Maximum amount of racing for the farewell of F1 Dutch GP

It will be a very special farewell for Max Verstappen in front of his home fans, all being well. Zandvoort drops off the calendar after six consecutive seasons on it when it hosts its last race in 2026. At Spa on Saturday the Dutchman made it a 12th win in the Sprint format. He is 10 clear of the next winningest driver.

Last year, Robert van Overdijk, Director of the Dutch Grand Prix, said:

“We are a privately owned and operated business, and we must balance the opportunities presented by continuing to host the event, against other risks and responsibilities. We have decided to go out on a high with two more incredible Dutch Grands Prix in 2025 and 2026; we wanted to take this step while our event is adored and supported by passionate fans, residents, and the Formula 1 community. I want to thank Stefano Domenicali and all the team at Formula 1 for the hard work that has seen multiple contract extensions realised and the Dutch Grand Prix be such a success.”

F1 Brazilian GP will not feature on the 2026 Sprint calendar

Ever since Sprints got introduced in 2021, the sport has always had the event at Interlagos as a Sprint weekend. However, and quite surprisingly, that run ends at the end of 2025.

Alongside the Red Bull Ring, the legendary Brazilian venue has hosted some thrilling Sprints. George Russell’s win in 2022 was exciting. Lewis Hamilton’s amazing drive the year before was even more mesmerising.

Canada and Singapore get their first F1 Sprint events in 2026 in significant calendar change

Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and Marina Bay are the other new additions to the Sprint calendar alongside the departing Zandvoort. Much like the Dutch track, overtaking is generally hard at these two F1 venues.

A return of the F1 Sprint weekend to Silverstone

After appearing on the F1 Sprint calendar in 2021 in its first year, Silverstone has not been on it since. However, that changes next year.

It remains to be seen how the racing will go with the new F1 cars in 2026. On the basis of the Sprint calendar for next year, the sport is taking quite the gamble with its selections.
