The 2026 FIA Formula 2 (F2) field took to the Red Bull Ring for the sole Free Practice session ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix. See the full results from the F2 Austrian GP Free Practice session below.
Championship leader Gabriele Minì set the early benchmark for MP Motorsport with a 1:17.384, before being displaced by MP teammate Ollie Goethe, who lowered the time to a 1:16.978.
The session was briefly interrupted by a red flag after AIX Racing’s Cian Shields spun at Turn 7 and became beached in the gravel.
Track limits are expected to play a significant role throughout the weekend, with the Red Bull Ring’s wide exits and generous run-off areas catching out plenty of drivers during Free Practice. Drivers struggled during the session with the temperature of the rear tyre, with the likes of Boya, Minì and Maini dropping tyres into the gravel.
Ultimately, at the end of the session, Goethe was the only driver to move to the 1:16s and topped the timings, with Tsolov in P2 and Dunne in P3.
