F2 Qualifying at the 2026 Canadian GP started 28 minutes late after a prolonged F1 Free Practice session, leaving drivers with less margin before the afternoon’s F1 Sprint Qualifying. Alex Dunne arrived as an early favourite after leading a Rodin Motorsport 1-2 in Practice, while teammate Martinius Stenshorne and Campos Racing’s Nikola Tsolov also looked strong.

When Qualifying finally began, Noel León led the field out as drivers pushed to bank early laps in tricky conditions. Gabriele Minì set the initial pace with a 1:26.915, before Joshua Dürksen delivered the first representative effort on a 1:22.914. Minì then improved to a 1:22.615, narrowly ahead of Rafael Câmara, who moved within 0.005s.

Nikola Tsolov briefly went fastest, before Nico Varrone lowered the benchmark to a 1:22.078. However, Câmara soon responded with a 1:22.025 to move to the top. As the session approached halfway, Laurens van Hoepen, Dino Beganovic and Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak also joined the fight at the front.

After the field returned to the pits, the final runs began, but Oliver Goethe hit the barriers after a big slide and triggered a red flag. Qualifying resumed with just over eight minutes left, only for Inthraphuvasak to crash and cause another stoppage.

Following another delay, the session restarted with around five minutes remaining. León briefly claimed provisional pole before Tsolov went fastest. Martinius Stenshorne then delivered a 1:21.744 in the final minute to take top spot, as late improvements from Rafael Villagómez, Minì and Emerson Fittipaldi reshuffled the order behind.

Ultimately, however, it was van Hoepen who claimed pole position with a 1:21.422, ahead of Câmara in P2 with a 1:21.689 and Dunne in P3 with a 1:21.709.
