The electric racing weekend in Shanghai begins with FP1, as all the Formula E drivers exit on track, looking forward to positive results. It’s the third year Formula E has raced at the particularly shaped circuit, which features a shortened version of the Grand Prix layout used by F1 too.
Last year, Nick Cassidy in his final year as Jaguar TCS driver had taken the win in a chaotic event. This time around, his former teammate Mitch Evans is pipped as a potential contender as the current championship leader.
The Kiwi leads from reigning Formula E champion Oliver Rowland and veteran Edoardo Mortara.
Under the pouring Shanghai rain, several drivers spun out while trying to find grip and feeling. Notable names struggling included Sanya podium sitters Dennis and Martì, as well as Wehrlein and Buemi.
