Wheldon responded once again, lowering the benchmark to a 1:35.150 in the closing stages to reclaim the top spot and finish the session fastest.

Wheldon tops FP2, fastest driver overall on Friday

Jan Przyrowski topped the second Free Practice session at Hockenheim, with the RPM driver once again showing strong pace after finishing second in FP1 earlier in the day.

Przyrowski set the fastest time of the day with a 1:35.026, finishing 0.061s ahead of championship leader Emanuele Olivieri. Olivieri was joined at the sharp end by his R-ace GP teammate Yuki Sano, who finished third just over a tenth behind.

Rodin Motorsport’s Reza Seewooruthun continued his strong form from FP1 to finish fourth, while G4 Racing’s Saqer Almaosherji rounded out the top five.

Almaosherji was one of the early pace-setters, putting a 1:35.430 on the board before Alex Ninovic moved to the top for Rodin Motorsport with a 1:35.305. Trident Motorsport’s Maksimilian Popov then slotted into second, sitting just a tenth off Ninovic’s benchmark.

With 15 minutes remaining, Seewooruthun moved to the front with a 1:35.258. Przyrowski quickly responded, lowering the benchmark by 0.040s before Olivieri went even faster with a 1:35.131.

Olivieri’s time also surpassed Sebastian Wheldon’s 1:35.??? from the opening session, before Przyrowski responded once again.

The RPM driver set a 1:35.026 to reclaim P1 and ultimately remained at the top of the timesheets.

Olivieri continued to improve, setting a 1:35.087, but it was not enough to dislodge Przyrowski from the top spot. Sano then jumped into third after the chequered flag with a 1:35.215, completing the top three.

With qualifying still to come, Przyrowski heads into the next session as one of the drivers to watch after topping the overall timesheets on Friday.
