Following round 1 of the 2026 IndyCar and Indy NXT seasons at St. Pete, view the full standings for both here.
In the IndyCar race, defending champion Alex Palou blew the field away once he got to the front. After the final caution went in on lap 43, he drove into the distance. By the end he finished over 12s ahead of Scott McLaughlin, with Christian Lundgaard right behind the Kiwi at the flag.
Josef Newgraden recovered from a terrible qualifying to finish a very solid P7. Great stops were key to some of this, while the two-time Indy 500 kept it clean throughout. His fellow multi-time IndyCar champions Will Power (crash) and Scott Dixon (loose wheel) had terrible starts to 2026.
It was a tough debut for Mick Schumacher as Sting Ray Robb’s big mistake wiped him and Santino Ferrucci out of the race.

Two title favourites Lochie Hughes and Myles Rowe had relatively disappointing weekends with 5th and 6th. Nonetheless, it was still far better than Enzo Fittipaldi’s nightmare debut.
