Drivers have officially completed Practice 2 for the 2026 IndyCar racing weekend at Arlington.
Josef Newgarden is the current championship leader, following his race win at the latest short oval round in Phoenix and previous championship leader Alex Palou’s DNF. Yesterday’s Practice 1 session was topped by Penske’s McLaughlin.
Power and Dixon had a moment at Turn 4, with the Ganassi driver locking up and spinning while the Andretti newcomer narrowly avoided a crash, causing the first red flag of the day. Ferrucci’s on track woes persisted from yesterday as well, as he ran wide off track. The same mistake was made by both O’Ward and VeeKay, still coming to grips with the new street course.
Newgarden caused the issuance of the second red flag of the day, as the Penske driver went too long at the exit of Turn 2 and hit the wall afterwards.
