Hadrien David claimed LMGT3 pole position for the 2026 TotalEnergies 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, as the #78 Akkodis ASP Team Lexus RC F produced the fastest lap in Hyperpole. The Frenchman delivered a 2m16.612s to secure the front spot in class ahead of Saturday’s race.
David’s performance completed an impressive recovery for Akkodis ASP Team after a difficult start to the Spa weekend. The #78 Lexus had lost a wheel during FP2 on Thursday, but the team bounced back strongly when it mattered most in Qualifying.
2026 FIA WEC: 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps: LMGT3: Qualifying
Akkodis ASP Lexus leads Qualifying
Akkodis ASP Team set the pace in the first LMGT3 Qualifying segment, as Petru Umbrărescu placed the #87 Lexus RC F at the top of the timesheets with a 2m17.225s.
The Romanian’s lap put the #87 Lexus 0.428s clear of the #88 Proton Competition Ford Mustang, while Iron Lynx followed in third with the #61 Mercedes-AMG.
Proton Competition also placed the #77 Ford fourth, ensuring both Mustang entries progressed to Hyperpole. Racing Team Turkey by TF completed the top five with the #34 Corvette.
#78 Lexus narrowly makes Hyperpole
Although the #87 Lexus led Qualifying, the sister #78 Akkodis ASP Team Lexus only just made it into the top ten shootout. Tom Van Rompuy secured the final Hyperpole place by 0.067s, edging out the #58 Garage 59 McLaren.
That narrow progression proved crucial, as it gave Hadrien David the chance to fight for pole in the decisive Hyperpole session.
Several expected contenders failed to progress. Garage 59’s pair of McLarens ended Qualifying 11th and 15th, despite the #58 car leading FP3 earlier in the day. The #92 The Bend Manthey Porsche, the #33 TF Sport Corvette and the #69 Team WRT BMW also missed the cut.

2026 FIA WEC: 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps: LMGT3: Hyperpole
David puts Lexus on pole
David delivered a commanding Hyperpole performance in the #78 Lexus RC F LMGT3, setting a 2m16.612s to take pole position in Belgium. The reigning Michelin Le Mans Cup LMP3 champion therefore claimed a standout result in his debut FIA WEC season.
The lap placed David 0.194s clear of Zacharie Robichon in the #27 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage. It also marked another major Spa success for the #78 Lexus, which previously claimed its maiden FIA WEC pole at the same circuit.
David’s result came after teammate Tom Van Rompuy narrowly secured a place in Hyperpole during the first Qualifying segment. Van Rompuy made it through by just 0.067s, giving David the chance to fight for pole in the shootout.
Heart of Racing Aston Martin takes second
Heart of Racing Team will start second in LMGT3 after Robichon produced a strong lap in the #27 Aston Martin Vantage. His 2m16.806s kept him within two tenths of David’s pole time.
The result gives the #27 crew of Ian James, Mattia Drudi and Zacharie Robichon a strong starting position for Saturday’s race. It also represents an important response after a difficult opening round at Imola, where the car was forced to retire.
With Aston Martin starting on the front row in class, Heart of Racing Team will have a clear chance to challenge Lexus in the early stages of the race.
Proton Competition puts Ford third and fifth
Proton Competition enjoyed a strong LMGT3 Hyperpole session, placing both Ford Mustang LMGT3s inside the top five. Ben Tuck put the #77 Ford third with a 2m16.824s, just 0.018s behind Robichon.
The sister #88 Ford followed in fifth with a 2m17.037s. As a result, Proton Competition will start with both cars in strong positions as it looks to challenge for a podium at Spa-Francorchamps.
The Ford entries were split by the second Akkodis ASP Team Lexus, as Clemens Schmid took fourth in the #87 car with a 2m16.968s.
Ferrari, BMW and Mercedes complete the top eight

Manthey DK Engineering placed ninth with the #91 Porsche, while Racing Team Turkey by TF rounded out the Hyperpole order in 10th with the #34 Corvette.
