AIX Racing have announced that Fernando Barrichello will join their F3 line-up in 2026. Ahead of his first full season, Barrichello will make his Formula 3 debut at the finale of the 2025 season in Monza.
In 2026, Barrichello will race alongside Sri Lankan driver Yevan David, whose F3 promotion was announced earlier this month.
Barrichello‘s racing record so far
Barrichello has spent 2025 completing his second year in the Euroformula Open Championship. He is currently fifth in the standings, behind his future F3 teammate Yevan David, who sits in second. He has previously competed in Brazilian and Spanish F4.
The Brazilian driver shared his excitement for his promotion to the bigger stage.
“Extremely grateful for this opportunity – so much hard work has gone into reaching this moment! I’m excited to join AIX Racing and fight for big things. Que honra poder representar o nosso Brasil em algo tão grande – what an honour to represent Brazil on such a huge stage. Vamos com tudo!!!”
AIX Racing’s eighth driver in 2025
AIX Racing have had a season full of driver changes. With Barrichello confirmed to be competing in the final round of the 2025, he will be the eighth driver to race for the team this season.
For the final round of the 2025 F3 season, Barrichello will replace the British driver James Hedley. Despite competing in six rounds this year, Hedley only managed one points-scoring finish.
Kenny Kirwan, the AIX Racing Team Manager, shared his positive reaction to announcing Barrichello’s F3 debut and 2026 seat.
“Super excited to welcome Fernando to our team from Monza onwards. We will be throwing him into the deep end a little, however the experience will prove invaluable for his preparations for the upcoming 2026 campaign. I believe that we can develop Fernando even further and we look forward to his valuable team contribution and shared future success.”
