British karting talent Alexander De Benedittis will make his single-seater racing debut with Pace Performance during the inaugural GB4 Championship Winter Series at Snetterton on 24–25 October.
The 15-year-old joins the team following a promising karting career, which has included appearances in the British Kart Championship, Kartmasters British Grand Prix and Whilton Mill Kart Club competitions. His move into GB4 represents the next stage of his development as he transitions from karting into car racing.
Now, De Benedittis will join a Pace Performance operation that enjoyed a competitive second season in GB4 during 2026, securing its maiden championship victory and regularly challenging near the front of the field.
De Benedittis prepares for first single-seater appearance
De Benedittis will make his first competitive appearance in single-seater machinery after several years competing in British karting championships.
During 2026, the teenager contested the IAME Senior X30 category of the British Kart Championship, finishing inside the top 15 in the standings despite missing the final four rounds. His performances demonstrated his competitiveness against experienced drivers, particularly as he continued developing his skills in the senior karting category.
He also gained experience in the Kartmasters British Grand Prix and previously competed in the X30 Junior category of the British Kart Championship. Those appearances helped him build a foundation in competitive racing before progressing into more powerful machinery.
De Benedittis continued his development through the Whilton Mill Kart Club X30 Senior series, where he secured a podium finish during 2026. His results provided further encouragement as he prepared to take the next step in his motorsport career.
The upcoming GB4 Winter Series will now introduce a different challenge, requiring him to adapt to the handling characteristics, braking demands and aerodynamic performance of a single-seater.
De Benedittis expressed confidence ahead of his debut, highlighting the preparation he has undertaken before joining Pace Performance.
“I’m really looking forward to making my GB4 debut in the Winter Series. I’ve been working hard away from the track to make sure I’m fully prepared. I’m feeling confident and focused, and I hope all the hard work pays off when the racing begins.”
Pace Performance builds on competitive 2026 campaign
De Benedittis joins Pace Performance following a successful second season in the GB4 Championship, during which the team established itself as a consistent front-running operation.
The outfit fielded several drivers throughout 2026, including Torrin Byrne, Josh McLean and John O’Donnell, with the trio contributing to its growing competitiveness.
One of its standout achievements came at Snetterton, where McLean secured his maiden GB4 victory during the championship’s 100th race. The result provided an important milestone for the team, demonstrating its progress since entering the series in 2025.
Pace Performance also challenged for the Teams’ Championship during the latter stages of the season, entering the Brands Hatch finale second in the standings. Although it ultimately finished fourth, the team ended the campaign with Byrne and McLean sixth and seventh respectively in the Drivers’ Championship.
Those achievements have strengthened Pace Performance’s position in GB4, providing an encouraging foundation as it prepares to introduce another young driver to single-seater racing.
Team Principal Sean Byrne welcomed De Benedittis, highlighting the progress he has already demonstrated during testing.
“We are really pleased to have Alexander within the team for the winter series. Alexander has shown a strong performance and focus on development during recent tests. We look forward to working with Alexander and supporting him through the Winter Series race weekend.”
Snetterton Winter Series offers valuable development opportunity
The inaugural GB4 Winter Series will take place at Snetterton’s 300 circuit on 24–25 October, providing an opportunity for drivers to gain additional competitive experience following the conclusion of the regular championship.
The event will feature two qualifying sessions and four races, with competitors contesting two races on each day. Pre-event testing on Thursday, 22 October, and Friday, 23 October, will also give De Benedittis valuable track time before his first competitive appearance.
He will race the Tatuus MSV GB4-025, which the championship introduced in 2025. The car features a two-litre Mountune engine, six-speed sequential gearbox and modern aerodynamic package, presenting a significant change from the karting machinery he has previously driven.
Although De Benedittis has already completed testing with Pace Performance, the Winter Series will provide his first opportunity to experience the demands of a single-seater race weekend.
The event will also allow the team to continue assessing his development as he adapts to qualifying sessions, race starts and competing against drivers with different levels of experience.
De Benedittis begins next stage of racing career
De Benedittis enters his GB4 debut with a solid foundation in karting, having competed across several British championships and demonstrated promising pace during his recent appearances.
His transition into single-seaters represents an important step, particularly as he begins learning the technical and competitive demands of car racing.
Pace Performance’s experience and recent success should provide valuable support throughout the process, allowing the teenager to work with a team that has consistently improved its competitiveness in GB4.
Although De Benedittis has not yet confirmed his plans for the 2027 season, the Snetterton Winter Series will provide an early opportunity to evaluate his potential in single-seater competition.
For now, the British driver will focus on gaining experience and building on his preparation as he begins the next chapter of his motorsport career with Pace Performance.
