Sébastien Buemi fought at the sharp end from the outset in Race 2 of the 2025/2026 Formula E double header in Jeddah. From the opening laps, slicing through the pack, he surged into the lead early on and kept himself firmly in contention as rivals traded blows around him. He judged the Attack Mode phases to perfection, avoided the chaos that caught others out, and delivered a composed, clinical drive. Buemi ultimately secured second place, underlining Envision’s strong form and reasserting himself as a genuine contender this season.

Buemi finds relief after setbacks finally give way to a deserved podium

Relief shaped Buemi’s reaction after the race, as a series of frustrating weekends had previously masked the pace he knew was there. An early mistake while fighting at the front, operational setbacks, and tyre struggles that left him starting near the back had all cost him valuable points. Buemi delivered a clean and controlled drive during the second race of the Formula E Jeddah E-Prix, the car performed as expected, and the team executed without error, allowing the result to reflect their true potential. With a podium now secured, the focus shifts to building consistency and turning strong performances into regular points finishes.

“Kind of relieved, to be honest because, you know, as I said, in Mexico, I’ve thrown it away in turn one, starting from pole. In Miami, the team did not communicate well, and we impeded people, started last, had a mega race. Yesterday, we just had a bad set of tyres, and we qualified last. And today, everything went okay. I didn’t do a mistake. The team did great, and we had a good set of tyres, and we had a good result. So hopefully we can iron out all those small issues and start to score some decent points like today.”

Growing confidence as Envision’s progress begins to show

Buemi also pointed to the clear progress Envision has made compared to last season, highlighting the development work carried out over the past six months. While results have not always reflected it, he believes the underlying performance has taken a significant step forward. The pace is more consistent, the package feels stronger, and the potential is evident. If that level of performance continues, he is confident that victories will follow in time.

“Yeah, I mean, it’s always hard to predict, but obviously I think what the team have done and evolved in the last, you know, six months is good. We seem to see a lot more performance, not always the result we hope for, but good performance. And if you have performance, at some point you get the results.”

Buemi shifts focus to Madrid after Podium at the Formula E Jeddah E-Prix

Looking ahead to Madrid, Buemi welcomed the return to a circuit the drivers already know from previous testing, noting the positive feedback it received at the time. He views the track as a strong venue for racing, with a layout that should suit Formula E well. His only uncertainty surrounds the final chicane and how it will be configured for the event, but aside from that question mark, he expects it to provide an enjoyable and competitive weekend.

“Yeah, it’s a big track, you know, I’m just a bit worried about the last chicane. I don’t know if they’re going to put that fake chicane or not. I don’t really know the layout yet, but the rest look good, you know, so I think it’s going to be a good venue.”
