Franco Colapinto credits Alpine F1 team for solid run in 2026 Miami GP, as he registered his best result after updates worked well on his side.

After Alpine teammate Pierre Gasly crashed out early in 2026 F1 Miami GP, it was on Colapinto to secure points for the French outfit in the tight midfield battle. The Argentine lost out to the Frenchman in the sprint race, when fighting Red Bull’s Max Verstappen on Lap 1.

He missed out on points eventually on Saturday, but in the main F1 Miami GP on Sunday, Colapinto showed good pace on the medium and hard tyres. Alpine ran long in the first stint in the hope of rain that never arrived.

Best result in F1 career in 2026 Miami GP

But by then Colapinto had built up enough gap to resist from Albon and Sainz. He finished eighth on the road, but got seventh in the end after penalty to Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc — registering his best result in F1. The Argentine credited the team for solid execution, to term it as a ‘perfect weekend’.

He not only made it in the Top 10 of sprint qualifying on Friday, but also the main F1 qualifying on Saturday, after the updates worked well on his side. After four rounds, he sits 11th in the drivers’ standings with seven points, while Alpine is fifth with 23.

Alpine executed, maximised well

“Yeah, I think since I got to F1 it’s been my most perfect weekend,” said Colapinto in the print media after F1 Miami GP. “I am very happy with the weekend, it’s been executed really well. I think we maximised every session and we scored strong points.

“So it’s been a weekend for all of us to be very proud and we’ll try to get better in Canada. I feel very similar to be honest, on my side not much has changed. I’m just very grateful to the team for the new bits, the upgrades, the new wings, the new chassis that came.

“It’s all been very helpful and I think that really helped me to find my feet a bit better and find more pace,” summed up Colapinto, whose previous best result was eighth in 2024 Azerbaijan GP, when he was driving for the Williams F1 Team.
