From Red Bull protégé to Formula E Champion – The rise of António Félix da Costa
Da Costa, one of Formula E’s most experienced and popular drivers, left TAG Heuer Porsche after two strong seasons with the German marque. He began karting at nine and quickly moved through Formula Renault, Formula 3, and GP3. Soon after, he joined the Red Bull Junior Team and tested Formula 1 cars for Force India and Red Bull Racing. Later, Da Costa turned his focus to Formula E. He made his debut in the inaugural season with Team Aguri and scored an early win in Buenos Aires. After that, he joined Andretti and later BMW, where he earned another victory in the 2018/19 season.
Then, his move to DS TECHEETAH in Season 6 proved decisive. He dominated with three consecutive wins and secured the Drivers’ Championship. From there, Da Costa continued to impress. Throughout the Gen2 and Gen3 eras, he stayed a consistent front-runner. He added standout victories in Monaco, New York, Cape Town, Berlin, Shanghai, and Portland. In the end, his time with Porsche further cemented his reputation as one of Formula E’s most exciting and determined racers.
A new chapter for Jaguar TCS Racing – Da Costa joins the charge in season 12
Jaguar TCS Racing entered a new era in Season 12 of Formula E with Da Costa joining the team. After years of steady growth, the British marque looked to build on its championship-winning form with a fresh driver line up. Jaguar joined Formula E in Season 3, marking its return to top-level motorsport. The first seasons were tough, but progress came quickly. With Nelson Piquet Jr. and Evans, the team climbed the standings. Then, in Season 5, Evans claimed Jaguar’s first victory with a brilliant drive in Rome. From there, Jaguar rose fast. Through the Gen2 era, Evans became a regular winner with standout drives in Mexico City, Rome, and Jakarta. When the Gen3 era began, Jaguar turned into a true title contender. With Nick Cassidy joining in Season 10, the team captured the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ Championships, highlighted by a famous 1–2 finish in Monaco.
Now, Da Costa brings fresh energy and experience to the team. A former champion and proven race winner, he joins Evans to form one of the strongest line-ups on the grid as Jaguar targets more victories in Season 12.
