Wildcard Entry Alexia Danielsson will miss Sunday’s 2026 F1 Academy Feature Race at the United States GP after sustaining a wrist injury during Saturday’s Reverse Grid Race in Austin. Following medical examinations, the Chief Medical Officer declared the Swedish driver unfit to compete in the final race of the United States GP weekend.
Danielsson sustained the injury during an opening-lap collision involving Williams-backed ART Grand Prix driver Jade Jacquet and Campos Racing’s Rafaela Ferreira. Jacquet had taken the lead from Ferreira into Turn 12 before the Brazilian attempted to reclaim the position at Turn 16.
However, contact between the pair sent Jacquet spinning, leaving Danielsson with nowhere to go. The Hitech driver collided with Jacquet’s car, forcing both drivers to retire and prompting Race Control to deploy the Safety Car.
Although both drivers initially exited their cars following the incident, Danielsson subsequently underwent precautionary examinations at the circuit’s medical centre.
Danielsson declared unfit for Sunday’s Feature Race
Following further medical assessment, the Chief Medical Officer declared Danielsson unfit to participate in Sunday’s Feature Race because of her wrist injury.
Consequently, the Swedish wildcard’s #45 Hitech entry will not take the start. All drivers originally scheduled to line up behind Danielsson will move forward one grid position, with no replacement driver taking her place.
The withdrawal brings a premature end to Danielsson’s maiden F1 Academy weekend, during which she represented Hitech as the United States GP wildcard entrant.
Danielsson had previously finished sixteenth in Friday’s Opening Race before her involvement in Saturday’s collision.
Meanwhile, the Reverse Grid Race concluded with Alba Larsen claiming her maiden victory ahead of Alisha Palmowski, whose second-place finish secured the 2026 Drivers’ Championship. Lisa Billard completed the podium.
Sunday’s Feature Race will proceed without Danielsson, concluding the Austin round before the championship heads to Las Vegas for its season finale.
