CUPRA KIRO and David Beckmann have mutually agreed to part ways following the conclusion of Formula E Season 11.
The German driver joined the team as one of three rookie drivers on the grid for Season 11, where he demonstrated consistent progress throughout his maiden Formula E campaign. Despite the challenges of adapting to the all-electric championship, Beckmann made two appearances in the qualifying duels and secured one top-10 finish during the season.
Furthermore, the mutual decision means Beckmann will not continue with CUPRA KIRO into the 2025/26 season, thereby marking the end of his tenure with the team after just one year.
A season of growth
Throughout his debut Formula E season, Beckmann steadily improved as he adapted to the unique demands of electric racing. As a result, his progression throughout the campaign culminated in a pair of qualifying duel appearances—a notable achievement for a rookie in one of motorsport’s most competitive championships.
Subsequently, the team has expressed gratitude for Beckmann’s efforts throughout the season, whilst acknowledging the dedication and professionalism he brought to the role.
Team Principal’s tribute
Meanwhile, Alex Hui, Team Principal of CUPRA KIRO, paid tribute to Beckmann’s contribution to the team:
“I would like to thank David sincerely for his contributions to the team during his time with CUPRA KIRO. Whilst being a rookie driver in Formula E is never easy, David rose to the challenge at every stage with dedication, professionalism, and enthusiasm. Moreover, it has been a pleasure to watch him grow. I know I can speak on behalf of many when I say that I’m excited to see what David does next, and I’m confident that he has a very bright future in motorsport.”
What’s next?
At present, CUPRA KIRO has not yet announced who will replace Beckmann for the 2025/26 season. Nevertheless, the team will be looking to build on their Season 11 campaign as they prepare for the next chapter.
For Beckmann, on the other hand, the parting represents an opportunity to explore new avenues in his motorsport career. Indeed, with his Formula E experience now under his belt and the endorsement of his former team principal, the 25-year-old will be hoping to secure a competitive seat for the future.
In conclusion, CUPRA KIRO has wished Beckmann the very best for the next stage of his career as both parties look ahead to new challenges.
