Enzo Deligny approaches the 2026 FIA Formula 3 season with conviction and clear intent. After delivering one of the most consistent campaigns across the Formula Regional ladder in 2025, Deligny now steps up to F3 with Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) determined to compete at the front in 2026.

Last year, Deligny finished fifth in the Formula Regional Middle East Championship before securing third overall in the Formula Regional European Championship. He then reinforced his credentials with another third-place result at the prestigious Macau Grand Prix, a race that traditionally rewards precision and bravery in equal measure. Consequently, Deligny does not enter F3 as an unknown quantity. Instead, he arrives with podium momentum and a belief that he can translate that form onto a larger stage.

Deligny sets clear performance targets from the outset of 2026 rookie campaign with VAR

Rather than framing 2026 as a simple adaptation year, Deligny has set firm internal objectives. He wants to demonstrate outright speed while simultaneously refining consistency and execution across a demanding calendar. Speaking to Formula 3 ahead of pre-season testing, he outlined his mindset in measured but confident terms.

“I definitely want to show my potential, that I can fight in the front,” said Deligny. “I know I can do that, so it’s just about minimising my mistakes and being consistent but then also trying to have high peaks and fight at the front.”

Deligny underlined the balance he intends to strike. On one hand, he recognises the importance of limiting errors in a tightly packed field. On the other, he acknowledges that standout performances remain essential to establish himself among the category’s leading names. He also expressed eagerness to begin competitive action, especially given the limited preparation time available before the opening round.

“I can’t wait to get the proper season started now. Only three days of testing now so I have to quickly get on top of things and then straight to Melbourne.”

That urgency reflects the reality of modern junior single-seater racing. Testing mileage remains restricted, so drivers must accelerate their learning curve immediately.

Deligny joined Van Amersfoort Racing prior to the Barcelona test and used those initial days to immerse himself fully within the team’s structure. He focused on understanding engineering processes, data analysis routines and communication dynamics, all of which prove critical in a championship where marginal gains define grid position.

Reflecting on his first impressions, he emphasised the welcoming atmosphere and the confidence it has instilled.

“It’s been very good,” said Deligny on joining the team. “They’ve been very welcoming and I’m very confident with them, so I’m confident in the season ahead that we’re going to do a good job.”

His optimism does not rely solely on atmosphere. He also draws encouragement from the team’s recent track record, particularly the rookie season delivered by fellow French driver Théophile Nael.

“Théo did quite a decent first year with them, so it shows me that the car is definitely good and if I do a good job I can be in the front.”

In preparation for the step up to F3 machinery, Deligny committed to a structured winter programme. He combined simulator sessions with targeted physical conditioning in order to cope with the increased aerodynamic load and race intensity. When asked about his off-season routine, he explained that he had been doing plenty of “simulator and physical training” to prepare for the demands of the year ahead.

However, beyond physical readiness, he identified tyre management as the most significant technical adjustment required for F3.

“Mainly the learning of the tyres, that is quite a big part. Understanding the tyres, understanding the warm-up, the peak of the tyre and then in the race, how the tyres degrade, how the tyres fall off. That was the biggest part.”

Milestone moments await in 2026

As the season approaches, certain venues stand out on Deligny’s calendar. When asked which circuits he anticipates most, he answered decisively.

“Melbourne and Monaco,” he responded. “Monaco is really cool. Obviously, it’s the first time I’m driving there and I think it’s definitely a cool milestone to drive there. As a driver, I am really excited to go there.”

Monaco, in particular, represents a symbolic landmark in any junior driver’s career. Meanwhile, Melbourne will offer the first competitive indication of how quickly Deligny has adapted to FIA F3 conditions.

Ultimately, Deligny combines ambition with substance. He has secured podiums in highly competitive regional championships. He has integrated swiftly into a proven F3 operation. Moreover, he has identified the technical elements that require refinement.

If he minimises mistakes while delivering the “high peaks” he describes, Enzo Deligny possesses the tools to emerge as one of the most compelling rookies of the 2026 FIA Formula 3 season.
