This weekend marks the end of the summer break, and Emma Felbermayr is excited to be back racing at the Dutch GP. It has been roughly two months since they were on track on Montreal. It was here that Emma Felbermayr earned her maiden win. After a long break, she hopes to maintain the momentum at Zandvoort.

Currently sitting 9th in the championship, she had a difficult start to the season. Although, Montreal appeared to be a turning point for the rookie driver. After a long break, she hopes to maintain the momentum at Zandvoort.

Coming Back From Summer Break

Two months is a long time to have a break from racing, and Emma Felbermayr is eager to get back on track. Despite the unique challenges that Zandvoort brings, she is excited for the weekend ahead. She has also been able to visit the track for some testing during the break. No doubt that she will be hoping this fact helps to give her an edge over her competitors.

“It’s been a long break, maybe too long since Montreal. But the track is really exciting, I think one of the harder ones on the calendar.” She continues on to say: “It’s been good to have some test days here…I think we’re prepared now.”

Felbermayr has been able to find ways to fill her time. Alongside F1 Academy, she is also racing in the Spanish F4 Championship. This has allowed her to keep racing even during the break. Even so, it will be difficult to return after so long away.

“I also drive Spanish F4 next to F1 Academy, which helps me quite a lot to stay in the arena. So my breaks during the F1 Academy races aren’t as long.”

“So I’d say it’s not too bad. But of course, reconnecting after this break maybe can be a little harder”

Focusing on Qualifying

Throughout the season, Felbermayr has struggled to qualify among the top drivers, securing P7 or P8. This has meant that she has had to fight her way through to the front, which has led to her struggling with a lot of contact during her races.

Despite this being her rookie season, Felbermayr is aiming to be higher up the grid, and consequently the Championship Standings. She has her hopes set on improving her Qualifying record this weekend at the Dutch GP.

“My focus is on qualifying, I’d say. Just because my racing is currently better than my qualifying. I know I’ve been qualifying around P7, P8. But my goal is to qualify higher. And to just…That the gap to the front is smaller.”
