Doriane Pin took the Race 1 victory at the Las Vegas GP, securing an important result in the penultimate round of the 2025 F1 Academy season. The race featured many safety cars throughout, with Pin overtaking Gademan near the end of the race and finishing in P1 behind the safety car.

Thursday’s Qualifying session saw Chloe Chambers take pole, while the reverse-grid format placed Nina Gademan on pole for Friday’s Race 1. Championship rivals Maya Weug and Doraine Pin start from P4 and P5 respectively, with only 9 points currently separating the pair for the title.

Meanwhile, Aurelia Nobels carries a three-place grid penalty for both Race 1 and Race 2 after impeding Ella Lloyd during Qualifying, meaning she started from P16 for both races.

Weug and Hausmann out before Race 1 began

A rolling start was called for Race 1 after rain fell just moments before lights out. The tricky conditions immediately affected the grid, with Emma Felbermayr forced into the pit lane before the start after her car failed to fire up during the formation lap, dropping her from an expected P2 launch.

Drama continued on the second formation lap when Maya Weug misjudged the pace and collided with Tina Hausmann, sliding into the back of her car and ending both of their races before the start. The incident brought out the Safety Car.

Gademan avoids drama at the restart

On the restart, Larsen immediately made progress, first passing Pin before taking the lead from Gademan, who continued to struggle for grip on the damp surface. But her time out front was brief. Just moments later, Larsen lost control of her Tommy Hilfiger machine at Turn 17, sliding across the track and gently tapping the wall. The light contact was enough to end her race.

Further back, Chong made the bold call to switch to slicks on Lap 5, dropping to P16. Ciconte’s race became more complicated when she was handed a 10-second penalty for causing a collision with Ferreira.

The Safety Car returned soon after when Lloyd attempted an outside move, but locked up and slid into the barriers.

Amid the chaos, Nobels, who started in P16 due to a grid penalty, quietly made major gains. By the time the field bunched up behind the Safety Car once more, she had climbed all the way to P6, capitalising on the unfolding drama.

Race back briefly before another Safety Car

Gademan held onto the lead at the restart, but just one lap later, Pin made her move and took control of the race.

Further back, Palmowski and Chambers continued their intense fight for position, swapping places multiple times. Palmowski briefly fell behind, then attempted another move, however, contact between the pair sent Chambers into the wall and forced her retirement.

As the rain intensified in the closing laps, the field circulated behind the Safety Car, and the race ultimately ended under yellow flag conditions. Pin secured the victory, with Gademan finishing P2 and Palmowski completing the podium in P3. After starting P16 due to her earlier penalty, Nobels delivered an impressive charge to finish P4.

Prema Racing also sealed the 2025 F1 Academy Teams’ Championship, claiming the title for the third consecutive year.

Several on-track incidents remain under investigation and will be reviewed post-race.
