Rafael Câmara left Hungary as the newly crowned 2025 F3 Drivers’ Champion, and, crucially, he remains unassailable on 156 points after a penalty-hit Sprint in Monza yielded no further gains. Nevertheless, the Italian GP Sprint still mattered enormously. It tightened the battle for the runner-up spot, compressed several mid-table fights, and elevated a few late-season form drivers into genuine top-ten contention.
Boya tightens his grip on P2
Mari Boya made the day’s biggest strategic move at the sharp end. He converted a tidy, mistake-free drive into sixth at the flag after penalties, which delivered six valuable points and lifted him from 108 to 114. Therefore, he strengthened his hold on second in the standings. Because Nikola Tsolov failed to score and remains on 106, the gap between the pair has stretched to eight points. With only a handful of scoring opportunities left, Boya now controls the initiative; he does not need to out-gun Tsolov in Sunday’s Feature Race, merely to shadow him while banking consistent finishes.
Tramnitz stalls; Stenshorne surges
Further back, the duel for fourth tightened. Tim Tramnitz’s on-road victory dissolved under a post-race 10-second penalty, which dropped him to eighteenth and left his tally unchanged at 93. In stark contrast, Martinius Stenshorne capitalised brilliantly. He inherited second after the reshuffle and added nine points, vaulting from 80 to 89. Consequently, Stenshorne now sits just four points behind Tramnitz and has momentum on his side. If he sustains this pace into Sunday and beyond, he can realistically prize fourth away, and perhaps even pressure Tsolov should the latter endure another blank.
Winners of the day: Van Hoepen and Bilinski
The podium reshuffle created two clear winners. Roman Bilinski seized the full 10 points for the Sprint win, rising from 49 to 59 and rocketing from the fringes of the top ten into the argument for seventh through tenth. Meanwhile, Laurens Van Hoepen’s promotion to third yielded eight points, boosting him from 52 to 60. As a result, the two now bracket Alessandro Giusti (62) in a tightly packed group: Giusti on 62, Van Hoepen on 60, and Bilinski on 59. Because these three have traded race-by-race peaks rather than steady accumulation, their mini-championship promises high volatility through the closing rounds.
Midfield shuffle: Consistency pays
Below them, the Sprint rewarded tidy execution. Noah Strømsted moved from 73 to 76 with eighth place, and Théophile Naël clipped another two points to reach 72. Ugo Ugochukwu added two to reach 43, while Callum Voisin’s seventh delivered four and nudged him to 52. By contrast, Tuukka Taponen took eleventh and stayed on 67, and Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak’s twelfth left him static on 49. In effect, the midfield compressed rather than stretched; a single strong Feature result could reorder positions seven through fourteen.
Setbacks and missed opportunities
Not everyone escaped unscathed. Charlie Wurz remained on 53 after a DNF, losing ground to the fast-rising Bilinski and the steady-scoring Van Hoepen. Noel León’s five-second sanction erased points and kept him on 21, while Brad Benavides stayed on 4. Nicola Lacorte still searches for his first point. Most significantly, Câmara’s own 10-second penalty carried no title-race consequences; however, it closed the book on any chase for single-season milestones he might have targeted, and it served as a reminder that even champions must thread the needle at Monza.
