2025 marked Noel Leon’s second season in F3, after competing with Van Amersfoort Racing in 2024, and finishing P10. After scoring points in 6 out of 10 rounds, Noel Leon found himself finishing P17 in the Driver’s Standings with 36 points, with his new team PREMA Racing.

His season saw many ups and downs, with Silverstone showcasing his strongest performance, and taking home 16 points. Almost half of his totally season points haul.

An okay start to the season

The Australian Grand Prix Qualifying session provided sheer chaos and interruption. Thankfully for Leon, he kept it clean and found himself P20. In yet another interrupted session, Leon found his way up to P10 during the Sprint Race, taking his first point of the season. The Feature Race took part under wet conditions that soon proved too wet for the F2 Feature Race to go ahead. There were interruptions as expected, but Leon fought his way to P13.

Landing in Bahrain for Round 2, after a decent weekend in Australia, Leon aimed high again. A largely calm Qualifying session allowed the Mexican to take P14, a slight increase on his previous Qualifying position in Melbourne. The Sprint Race followed general suit, without too much drama. Leon climbed only three places to finish P11. In the final race of the weekend, the Feature Race, Leon dropped back into P17 where he ended the race. Coming off a point scoring weekend, this would have been disappointing the Leon.

The Triple Header

Kicking off the triple header in Imola, Leon had a mixed bag of a weekend. Leon showed promise in a tricky Qualifying session by Qualifying P8. The Sprint Race became yet another tricky session, with Safety Cars galore. Leon held ground for the most part, dropping a single place to finish P9. The Feature Race is where his weekend unravelled. Yet another tough session saw him pushed into a DNF, ending his weekend with only two points in the Sprint.

The second round of the triple header in Monaco proved just as tough for the Mexican driver. Finishing third in Group A’s Qualifying session, Leon Qualified P5 overall. Unfortunately, this wouldn’t be enough to save his weekend. Both the Sprint Race and Feature Race saw dismay. Leon was forced to retire in the Sprint Race due to an incident with Camara, retiring in the Feature Race also after meeting the wall at Portier.

The final round of the triple header was rather average for Leon. During Qualifying, Leon found himself within the top 12 until the final moment of the season, in which he was pushed down to P14. The Sprint Race was incident-filled, Leon held on strong to climb to the final point paying position of P10. The Feature Race was not as strong for the Mexican, finishing only P18 in another busy session.

Spielberg Round

Spielberg proved to be a strong round in between a mix of tougher rounds for Leon. Although he sat in P4 towards the end of Qualifying, he was quickly shuffled down to P13. Nonetheless, he fought back in the Sprint Race to take P10, and a single point. The Feature Race went much the same, narrowly missing the points this time, taking P11.

Two rounds of rain

Silverstone was host to Leon’s strongest weekend of the season, accumulating 16 points, almost half of his final tally. Despite having a lap time deleted in Qualifying, Leon managed to secure P10, or P3 once the grid was reversed. Although he held a strong starting position for the Sprint Race, Leon struggle immensely, dropping down to P7. His luck reversed in the Feature Race, taking his first podium of the season. After a red flag due to weather, the race was ruled unsafe to continue, leaving Leon in P3.

The rainy weather continued into Belgium. The Qualifying session became rather humorous due to lack of room on track, and the entire field bunching up. This meant Leon struggle to find air for a push lap, leaving him P27. Leon showed his potential in the Sprint Race, climbing through the field into a P15 finish. Unfortunately for Leon, the Feature Race was cancelled due to weather, after being stopped twice without any racing laps.

The final push of the season

The final two rounds of the season approached rather quickly, heading out to Budapest prior to ending the season in Monza. Budapest proved tough for Leon, despite Qualifying in P13. Often compared to Monaco, Budapest proved to be as misfortunate for Leon as Monaco was. Colliding with Nael on lap 15 of the Sprint Race, the Mexican’s race was ended a single lap from the chequered flag. After running off and colliding with other drivers, Leon was awarded a penalty, that dropped his on track P15 to a P17.

Leon entered the final round in Monza with the hopes for redemption. Arguably, he did just that, finding redemption in the Feature Race. Leon finished the Group B Qualifying session in P2, which landed him in P3 overall. Starting from P10 in the Sprint Race, Leon finished P8 on track. Despite this, he was handed a 5s penalty for causing a collision which dropped him back to P19. Redemption truly came in the Feature Race, finishing right where he started, gaining his second podium of the season.

A mixed season

Noel Leons season had its fair share of ups and downs in 2025, many may be cause of the struggles of the PREMA machinery this season. While some weekends proved trickier than others, it is reasonable to say his season was rather strong. Regardless, Leon’s future for 2026 is yet to be confirmed.
