It’s time to go green again in Jeddah for the second leg of the first Formula E double header of the 2025/2026 season! Who will manage to take the top spot: Dennis, after leading the earlier FP3 session , pole sitter for both Saudi Arabian outings Mortara or yesterday’s race winner Werhlein, gunning to extend his championship lead?
Following the issues which marred his Race 1, Mahindra’s Nyck de Vries will serve a 60 places grid penalty for picking up new race car components. Unlike yesterday, the drivers will have to take up a total of 8 minutes of Attack Mode.
It’s go green in Jeddah for the second 2025/2026 Formula E race!
Mortara had a more stronger start compared to yesterday , as Da Costa and Dennis fall right behind. At the chicane the Andretti passes Da Costa, as Rowland gets by Vergne. all cars come pretty close as Rowland manages to get P1. The Mahindra slots in P3, behind the Jaguar driver.
A bit behind, Ticktum impressively moved up two spot up to P7 on the first lap, whereas Cassidy, focusing on saving power, dropped three spots compared to his qualifying result.
De Vries on Lap 2 also served his additional time penalty, closing off the grid. Buemi has a rapid thrust through the field, getting in P2 by Lap 3. The Envision confirms the strong performances shown so far in Season 12, bolting up to the top spot. Will the Swiss driver actually lead the fluo green team to its first win since Monaco last year?
On Lap 5 this was the top 10: Da Costa, Rowland, Dennis, Mortara, Vergne, Ticktum, Wehrlein, Maloney, Martì.
Rowland passes by Buemi and Da Costa, while Cassidy and Wehrlein gravitate towards the bottom top 10, waiting for the right moment to plunge in. Barnard, starting from the back of the grid, is recovering, passing Eriksson and then Mueller for P14.
The battle for the top spot intensifies!
On Lap 8 Mortara and Rowland duel, bothering each other and exchanging the top spot. Ultimately, Buemi takes advantage of the situation, resuming his earlier P1.
On Lap 10 Di Grassi, from P13, is the first driver to pick up an Attack Mode, ending up to P4. The rear part of Maloney’s wing is almost completely detached, slowing significantly the Barbados driver. Replays show Cupra Kiro’s Martí making contact with the Lola Yamaha driver, damaging significantly his wing.
Vergne picks up the shorter Attack Mode as well, reaching Di Grassi in the Top 5. Ultimately, all the drivers so far in thrteen laps have saved up energy, allowing them to spen more in the upcoming laps.
Ticktum and Rowland make slight contact. On Lap 14, Mortara overtakes Buemi.
On Lap 15 Mortara, Buemi, Vergne, Da Costa, Di Grassi, Rowland, Ticktum, Wehrlein, Dennis, Maloney composed the top 10.
Evans also picks up the longer Attack Mode, immediately passing by Maloney and definitely gunning for the lead pack, or at least a podium position.
Rowland goes deep!
Rowland and Mortara closely fight for P2. The first move attempt from the Nissan driver is unsucesssful, whereas on the second time he makes significant contact with the Mahindra driver. Replays show him running over the kerb and then impacting with the Italian-Swiss driver.
Dennis slows down at the hairpin, dropping out of the Top 10 for a puncture. By Lap 20 plenty of drovers opt for the additional power: Wehrlein, Nato, Da Costa, Ticktum, Barnard, Günther and Drugovich.
Da Costa from P2 tries to catch Rowland in P1 and is successful, as Buemi and Mortara take up on their first Attack Modes as well so as not to lose too much ground from the top of the grid. Ticktum overtakes Buemi and Mortara, hopping on the provisional podium. Will the British driver, who managed to complete his first 2025/2026 Formula E race yesterday, earn his first points of the year in Jeddah?
Final Saudi Arabian rounds
Mortara and Rowland make again contact, with the Mahindra running off track. Vergne is upset with the employed strategy of taking up earlier his Attcak Mode, as he is now stuck out of the top ten in P12.
Ticktum moves up to P2, with Buemi overtaking the quarrelling duo as well. The entire top 6, apart from race leader Da Costa, significantly out at the front with a good 3.8s lead, picks up their second Attack Mode. He picks it up a couple of laps later, as Ticktum has already eroded 2s off his gap.
Lap 25 saw in the top 10 Da Costa, Ticktum, Rowland, Buemi, Mortara, Wehrlein, Martí, Evans, Di Grassi, Vergne.
Former championship leader Cassidy is still far behind in P16, and can’t take too much advantage from his Attcak Mode as the majority of the grid is employing it.
On Lap 27 Rowland passes Ticktum, who is also passed by Buemi. Due to the lack of Safety Cars, no additional laps need to be added to the total race distance.
Da Costa still holds a 2.5s lead over the rest of the podium. Ticktum drops to P5, for a still very successful double points finish for Cupra Kiro. At the back, Barnard completed a very impressive recovery up to the points scoring zone.
Buemi goes by Rowland., developing a half a second lead over the Nissan driver. The two Cupra Kiro cars almost collided, with Martí attempting a rather bold move on Ticktum.
Antonio Félix Da Costa takes his first Formula E win with Jaguar TCS Racing in Jeddah! He shares the podium with Envision’s Buemi, taking revenge from his missed Mexico City Pole, and reigning champion Oliver Rowland.
Mortara and Ticktum complete the top 5, with Martí, Evans, Wehrlein, Vergne and Barnard bringing back home points as well.
