BMW had a dream weekend at the second round of the 2025 BTCC season at Brands Hatch as Jake Hill moved himself right back into the championship hunt following a win in race 1. He backed it up with a brilliant defensive drive against Tom Ingram for P2 in race 3.
However this round will be mostly remembered for two drivers getting their wins in the series. Daryl DeLeon took out the BTCC second race on Sunday at Brands Hatch as he survived a festival of Safety Cars to eventually take the lead and pull away from the chasing pack.
In race 3 Charles Rainford joined him in the winners club. After holding off Jake Hill who put massive pressure on him throughout, he could enjoy the closing laps as Hill was put under massive pressure by Tom Ingram in the closing stages.
After two supreme wins and a massively strong weekend at Donington Park to kick off the 2025 BTCC season, Ash Sutton had to go into damage limitation mode at Brands Hatch as the Ford cars lacked the pace to fight for wins. Nonetheless the four-time champion delivered strong results. P3 and P4 in races 2 and 3 means he held on to the series lead after round 2.
The big guns of recent years dominating
Sutton sits on 92 points heading to Snetterton, with his annual rival Tom Ingram five points adrift. Ingram bagged two P3s over the course of Sunday, with a P11 in race 2 on the hard tyre. Hill is a further seven points behind. The three champions are a long way clear of the rest at present.
Tom Chilton is 4th as he’s scored 55 points. Morgan, Rowbottom, Cammish, Smiley and Rainford are all covered by four points.
It’s not been the easiest of returns to the championship for Gordon Shedden. He is 15th in the standings on 14 points. The Toyotas have been struggling for pace.
