Elite Motorsport’s Will Macintyre emerged quickest in Friday’s GB3 Championship testing at Silverstone. The British driver, who previously won at the circuit in April, clocked a 1m53.631s during the morning session before heavy rain and stoppages disrupted the afternoon running. His time fell just three-tenths shy of Thursday’s outright benchmark and proved enough to edge Rodin Motorsport’s championship leader Alex Ninovic by 0.117s.

Behind the leading pair, Argenti with Prema’s Reza Seewooruthun took third overall, half a second adrift of Macintyre. Hitech TGR’s Deagen Fairclough followed closely in fourth, only 0.015s behind Seewooruthun. Rodin’s Abbi Pulling maintained her strong form with fifth place, 0.622s away from the top.

Argenti’s Lucas Fluxa placed sixth, a mere 0.005s ahead of Hillspeed’s Michael Shin. Rodin’s Gianmarco Pradel slotted into eighth, just 0.007s back, while Xcel Motorsport’s Patrick Heuzenroeder and his teammate Jack Sherwood completed a tightly packed top-10 covered by 0.880s.

The second session saw heavy rain and limited track action, with only 11 drivers able to record lap times. Hitech’s Keanu Al Azhari topped the sodden session on a 2m06.282s, though two red flags – caused by separate incidents involving Heuzenroeder and VRD’s Patricio Gonzalez – restricted running even further.

Next on the schedule

Attention now turns to Saturday, when qualifying begins at 09:55 and 10:15 before the opening race at 14:45. With Macintyre leading the way on Friday and Ninovic carrying Thursday’s momentum, a close fight looks set to unfold when points are on the line.
