Fred Green added a third Omologato One to Watch Award to his 2026 GB4 campaign after returning to winning form during the penultimate round at Donington Park.
The Elite Motorsport driver scored 64 points across the weekend’s opening two races, more than any other driver over those contests. Green claimed his fourth victory of the season in Race 1 before following teammate Yani Stevenheydens home in second in Race 2, allowing him to secure the award for the third time this year.
The result ended a difficult run for Green and helped revive his Drivers’ Championship challenge against KMR Sport’s Alex O’Grady. He also leaves Donington with another season-long accolade already secured after mathematically clinching the George Russell Pole Position Cup with one round remaining.
Green returns to winning form at Donington
Green arrived at Donington looking to recover after a difficult Snetterton weekend had allowed O’Grady to extend his championship advantage to 70 points. The Elite driver had not won since Oulton Park in May and needed a strong response during the penultimate event to maintain realistic hopes of challenging for the title.
His weekend began from the front row after stand-in teammate Stevenheydens swept both poles during Qualifying. Green started Race 1 alongside the Belgian and capitalised immediately when Stevenheydens made a slow getaway.
Green and O’Grady both moved ahead before Redgate, but the Elite driver quickly established himself at the front. A mid-race Safety Car removed his initial advantage and brought O’Grady back within striking distance, yet Green controlled the restart and crossed the line 0.774s ahead to claim his fourth victory of 2026.
The victory delivered 35 points and marked Green’s first trip to the top step since Oulton Park. More importantly, he directly outscored the championship leader and began reducing the sizeable deficit created during the previous round.
Second place completes 64-point haul
Green again started from the front row for Race 2, although Stevenheydens produced a much cleaner launch on Sunday and retained the lead.
Two Safety Car periods repeatedly compressed the field, but Green remained directly behind his teammate throughout the contest. He applied pressure during the closing laps without finding an opportunity to complete a pass and eventually finished only 0.334s behind.
Second place added another 29 points to Green’s weekend tally, taking his total from the opening two races to 64. That proved enough to make him the highest-scoring driver across the two principal contests and secure the Omologato One to Watch Award.
The 64-point haul also played an important role in the championship. O’Grady finished second in Race 1 but could manage only sixth in the second contest, allowing Green to make substantial gains before the reverse-grid finale.
Green becomes first three-time 2026 award winner
The Donington prize represents Green’s third Omologato One to Watch Award of the season.
He first collected the award at the opening Silverstone event after scoring 70 points across Races 1 and 2, the maximum possible haul from the two principal races. Green then won it again at Oulton Park after taking 64 points.
Luke Hilton subsequently claimed the prize during the championship’s first Donington visit with another 64-point weekend before adding a second award at Silverstone with 59. O’Grady became the third different winner when he produced a maximum 70-point score at Snetterton.
Green’s latest Donington performance now moves him clear as the only driver to have won the award three times during 2026.

The top-scoring driver across the first two races of each GB4 event receives an Omologato timepiece. The motorsport-focused watch manufacturer has supported the championship through the prize during 2026, with its involvement extending into other categories including IndyCar and the British Superbike Championship.
Donington helps Green rebuild championship challenge
Although the Omologato award recognises only the opening two contests, Green’s Donington weekend also carried significant consequences for the Drivers’ Championship.
Green eventually finished ninth in the reverse-grid Race 3, one position ahead of O’Grady. Across the full round he scored 73 points compared with O’Grady’s 52, reducing the gap at the top of the championship from 70 to 49 points.
O’Grady therefore heads to Brands Hatch with 373 points compared with Green’s 324. While five drivers remain mathematically capable of taking the title, Green represents the championship leader’s closest challenger with 102 points still available.
Green also arrives at the finale with the George Russell Pole Position Cup already secured. Stevenheydens’ Donington double pole left Green’s five-pole tally mathematically unbeatable with only two remaining at Brands Hatch.
The Donington weekend therefore delivered an important response following Green’s difficult Snetterton round. He returned to the top step, claimed another Omologato One to Watch Award, secured the Pole Position Cup and reduced O’Grady’s championship advantage before the final three races.
Green now heads to Brands Hatch aiming to turn that momentum into a final challenge for the larger prize, with the GB4 Drivers’ Championship set to be decided from September 25-27.
