Jaguar TCS Racing confirmed Stoffel Vandoorne as its new Reserve Driver for Season 12 of Formula E, joining long-time simulator and reserve driver Tom Dillmann. The 2022 Formula E World Champion brings over 100 race starts and fresh momentum from a strong 2024/25 campaign.
His seven-season Formula E career included stints with HWA Racelab, Mercedes-EQ—where he claimed his title—and DS PENSKE. Alongside Vandoorne, Dillmann supports Jaguar’s GEN4 development for 2026/27. The team enters its tenth Formula E season after its best-ever year, finishing runner-up in both the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ Championships with six wins from the final six races.
Vandoorne to power Jaguar’s development cycle on and off the track
Vandoorne said he felt “thrilled” to join Jaguar as reserve, praising the team’s professionalism and record. Determined to contribute both on and off the track, the Belgian focused on helping unlock the I-TYPE 7’s full potential. Simulator work, development mileage, and precise feedback would form the core of his role. Alongside Dillmann, Vandoorne aimed to sustain Jaguar’s strong momentum in Formula E while sharpening performance through clean debriefs and quick setup progress.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Jaguar TCS Racing as reserve driver for the upcoming season. It’s a team I’ve long admired for its performance and professionalism, and I’m excited to contribute to their continued success. I’m looking forward to supporting the team both on and off the track and helping push the Jaguar I-TYPE 7 to its full potential.”
Six years in, Dillmann helps turn preparation into points
Marking a sixth year with Jaguar TCS Racing, Dillmann underlined his ongoing role at the heart of development. Over multiple seasons, he watched the outfit mature into a consistent title threat and took pride in that progress. Momentum surrounded the new campaign, fuelling confidence inside the garage. Working closely with engineers and drivers, he aimed to turn preparation into points. The goal stayed simple: convert steady growth into results.
“It’s a real pleasure to be continuing with Jaguar TCS Racing for my sixth season. Over the years, I’ve seen the team grow into a true championship contender, and I’m proud to have played a part in that journey. There’s a great energy heading into this season, and I’m looking forward to what we can achieve together.”

James hails Vandoorne’s pedigree and Dillmann’s steadiness for Formula E’s next era together with Jaguar TCS racing
Team principal Ian James welcomed Vandoorne as reserve for the new season. He highlighted the Belgian’s title, seven campaigns, and 100-plus starts as proof of pedigree. Equal credit went to Dillmann, whose six-year stint brought steady value. James pointed to Dillmann’s diligence and engineering feel as pillars of progress. Together, Vandoorne and Dillmann strengthened Jaguar TCS Racing’s preparation for Formula E’s next phase.
“We’re proud to welcome Stoffel Vandoorne to Jaguar TCS Racing as our reserve driver for the upcoming season. Stoffel’s credentials speak for themselves – a former Drivers’ World Champion with over 100 race starts and a wealth of experience across seven seasons.
“We’re also glad to retain Tom Dillmann, who has been a hugely valuable member of Jaguar TCS Racing for the past six years. His dedication and technical expertise have played a key role in our development, and we’re grateful for his continued support as we prepare for Formula E’s most exciting era of racing yet.”
