John O’Donnell will return to the GB4 Championship in 2026 with Pace Performance, committing to a full season after an impressive debut appearance at Donington Park late in 2025. The American-Korean driver now continues his rapid development in UK single-seater racing with a structured programme focused on experience and progression.

Pace Performance expands its 2026 driver line-up and retains O’Donnell following his encouraging first outing. As a result, he enters the new season with valuable mileage already secured and a clearer understanding of the demands of GB4 competition.

Strong debut signals potential despite limited background

O’Donnell made his GB4 debut under challenging conditions at Donington Park, where he immediately demonstrated adaptability despite limited experience. He out-qualified four other drivers in wet and difficult conditions, which highlighted his raw pace and composure.

He also completed two 18th-place finishes across the weekend, showing consistency throughout his first experience of UK open-wheel racing. Consequently, he established a foundation on which to build ahead of his first full season.

Rapid rise from US Formula 4 and late entry into motorsport

O’Donnell only began his racing career in 2025, entering the sport without a karting background. He competed in three Skip Barber Formula 4 races in the United States and delivered strong performances, including second-place finishes at both Virginia International Raceway and New Jersey Motorsports Park.

In addition, he gained Formula 4 testing experience with Jensen Motorsports, which helped accelerate his transition into single-seater machinery. Therefore, he enters GB4 with a relatively short but rapidly developing racing CV.

Full season focused on development and learning

With a full GB4 race weekend already completed and winter testing mileage secured, O’Donnell now prepares for a complete 2026 campaign. He targets steady improvement across the season as he adapts to UK circuits and builds consistency in race conditions.

He has outlined a clear approach to his second year in single-seaters:

“Stepping into GB4 last year was a massive challenge, especially coming into the sport late and not having a karting background. Donington was a real deep-end experience, but it taught me exactly what’s required to compete at this level. The Pace Performance team has been instrumental in my development, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the team this season. For 2026, my goal is to master the UK’s iconic circuits, nail the fundamentals, and consistently move up the grid.”

Pace Performance Team Principal Sean Byrne has praised O’Donnell’s performance at Donington and expressed confidence in his continued development during the 2026 season.

“It’s great to welcome John back to the team for the 2026 GB4 Championship. I think it’s fair to say he surpassed all expectations at Donington Park. As part of a three-driver line-up this season, he’s going to have plenty more opportunities to learn and develop with us. He has shown a lot of potential and we are confident in his ability to make the most of this opportunity. We look forward to seeing him develop through the 2026 season.”

O’Donnell now enters his first full GB4 campaign with limited but meaningful experience and strong team support. With a steep learning curve ahead, he focuses on consistency, circuit knowledge, and gradual improvement across the season.
