Prema Racing’s Noel León secured his best result of the 2025 F3 season to date with a seventh-place finish in the Sprint Race at the British GP. However, the Mexican remained grounded post-race, admitting that the performance left room for improvement ahead of Sunday’s Feature Race.
Despite adding more points to his tally, León encountered challenges from the start, losing ground due to anti-stall and then struggling to maintain pace across the race. Speaking after the session, the rookie acknowledged the difficulties but felt they had still extracted the maximum available.
“Quite a difficult race to be honest for me. I got the anti-stall at the start, and we lost a few positions at the beginning,” he said. “Then we were struggling a bit in terms of pace. We need to analyse what is happening because it had been quite strong, so we need to be better for tomorrow because I was missing a little bit today. We maximised what we had today, just need to look over things for tomorrow.”
León aiming to catch up to teammate Ugochukwu
While Prema Racing have made clear strides in recent rounds, particularly through Ugo Ugochukwu’s strong form, León admitted that he has not quite kept up with the same upward trajectory. After a steady start to the season, he now feels slightly out of sync with the team’s pace of development, though remains optimistic that further analysis can turn things around.
“We have been really strong. The team is doing a great job every time and we are getting better and better and better. But at the moment, I just cannot follow that progression from Prema to be honest,” León said.
“If you compare me to Ugo, before we had the same progression and I was quite good and consistent compared to my teammates, but now, let us say I am not following as much as I should be. We need to keep analysing and keep working and then we will be up there again.”
Eyes forward to Feature Race fightback
After a strong Sprint Race, León will start tenth in Sunday’s F3 Feature Race at the British GP, meaning he is right on the edge of the points-paying positions. Although his Sprint performance offered a confidence boost, he stressed the importance of analysing data from Saturday in order to execute a stronger race strategy in the longer contest. Tyre management, in particular, will be a focus.
“There was a little bit of tyre degradation. I learned a little bit, so I think tomorrow we have another opportunity to go again and fight for it,” he stated.
Weather could play a role in shaping the race, and León acknowledged the added complexity that rain would bring to a crucial Sunday outing.
“I hope the weather will still be the same, because if it rains it will be a bit trickier. But we will try our best and focus on what we need to try and match the performance of the team.”
“I hope to be in the points. If I can add to that, it would be great to be honest. We are in the points today but tomorrow, we start P10 so we are on the edge of no points at all, so to be in the points is the goal.”
As León looks ahead, a strong Feature Race could mark a turning point in aligning his performances with the team’s progress—and help solidify Prema’s push up the championship order.
