PREMA Racing announced Mari Boya for the 2026 FIA F2 season, marking the Spaniard’s next step up the ladder. He steps up to F2 off the back of a strong 2025 F3 campaign, where he fought for the title and banked five podiums along the way. Notably, one of them was a commanding Silverstone Feature Race win that underlined his speed and composure. Boya ended the year third in the standings before heading to Macau, once again impressing with a charge to second place. Now an Aston Martin Driver Academy talent, he joins PREMA ready to carry that momentum into his rookie F2 campaign.
Boya relishes F2 step with PREMA as he targets growth in longer, more strategic races
Boya made no secret of his enthusiasm, calling PREMA the ideal place to begin his F2 journey. The Spaniard underlined how keen he was to get to work with the crew, while highlighting how much the championship’s format appeals to him. Especially, the move to longer runs with strategy, pit stops and tyre management. For the Aston Martin junior, the switch felt like a major chance to grow.
“Super excited about joining PREMA for my rookie FIA Formula 2 season. Really eager to start working with the team. I feel I have a great opportunity, and I’m looking forward to seeing how things go. I’m particularly happy to have longer races than in F3, which I really like, and also pit stops and tyre deg to deal with. Let’s hope for a good season.”
Rosin hails Boya’s speed and smarts as PREMA backs Spaniard to turn momentum into front-running F2 results
PREMA Team Principal Rene Rosin highlighted the Spaniard’s sharp progression through the junior ranks. He pointed to Boya’s combination of pace and intelligence as key reasons for signing him. Moreover, he stressed how much the outfit valued Boya’s work ethic and felt his approach would slot naturally into the team. Internally, there was a quiet belief within PREMA that the Aston Martin junior would keep his momentum. Rosin felt he could ultimately turn that potential into front-running results.
“We are happy to welcome Mari [Boya] to the team. If we look at his career, we see a strong progression, and in addition to his speed skills, we know he is a smart and hard-working driver. We are looking forward to seeing how these skills will mix with the team, and we are confident he will continue his form to bring home positive results.”
