Spanish driver Marta García is set to make her return to Formula E with Lola Yamaha ABT at the upcoming 2025 Women’s Test in Valencia. After a remarkable rise through the ranks of motorsport, García continues to cement her position as one of the most promising female drivers in international racing.

Having begun her career in karting, García quickly showcased her natural speed and determination. Her early success led her to the Spanish F4 Championship in 2016, where she impressed with consistent performances against some of the most competitive young drivers in Europe.

From F1 Academy glory to new frontiers

García’s career trajectory took a major leap forward in 2023 when she became the inaugural F1 Academy Champion with Prema Racing. Notably, she secured the championship with two races to spare, a testament to her dominance and technical precision throughout the season.

Following her F1 Academy triumph, García has broadened her experience across different racing formats. In 2025, she has been competing in the Le Mans Cup with Iron Dames in the GT3 category, where she has already achieved one victory and two podium finishes. This success highlights her versatility and adaptability across both open-wheel and endurance disciplines.

Building experience in Formula E

This test in Valencia will not be García’s first taste of Formula E machinery. She has previously taken part in the 2024 rookie test in Berlin and the inaugural Women’s Test in Madrid last season. Each of these experiences has allowed her to deepen her understanding of electric racing dynamics — a crucial step for any driver aiming to master Formula E’s distinctive challenges.

García expressed her enthusiasm about the opportunity, saying: “It’s great to have the chance to test again in Formula E. I’m really looking forward to working with everyone at Lola Yamaha ABT and understanding their approach. They have a lot of experience and technical depth, so it’s a great opportunity for me to learn from them, adapt quickly and contribute to the team’s development. Every kilometre in these cars is valuable experience, and I’m excited to make the most of this opportunity.”

Team leaders welcome García

Mark Preston, Motorsport Director at Lola Cars, shared his excitement about García’s participation: “We are delighted to welcome Marta to the team. Her talent, versatility and experience speak for themselves and will be invaluable as we continue to develop our package ahead of the first race in December.”

Meanwhile, Frederic Espinos, Team Director of Lola Yamaha ABT, also praised García’s arrival, noting: “Marta is one of the most talented female drivers today, who has proven her ability in numerous racing series. The Women’s Test is a great opportunity for Marta to gain experience in electric racing, while also providing feedback to help the team prepare for the upcoming season.”

Looking ahead to Valencia

As the Women’s Test approaches, anticipation is building around García’s performance. Not only does the event provide her with another chance to demonstrate her skills, but it also reinforces Formula E’s growing commitment to inclusivity and diversity within motorsport. Ultimately, García’s return to Formula E signifies both a personal milestone and a positive step forward for women in motorsport. Through her determination, adaptability, and proven racecraft, she continues to inspire the next generation of drivers, proving that talent knows no boundaries.
