Ahead of the Formula 3 weekend at Silverstone, Rafa Câmara spoke to several media outlets, including Pit Debrief. The Brazilian driver shared his thoughts on racing at the iconic British circuit, reflected on his season so far, and looked ahead to what could be a crucial weekend in the title fight.

In his rookie F3 season with TRIDENT, Câmara currently leads the championship by 25 points at the halfway stage. As the field heads into one of the most historic circuits on the calendar, the British Grand Prix could prove pivotal come season’s end in Monza.

Câmara remains focused ahead of the British GP

The TRIDENT driver will be competing in his first ever weekend at the historic Silverstone circuit. At yet another new track for Câmara, he explained that his approach to the weekend hasn’t changed over the year.

“Things are quite usual. [I’m] looking with the team at what we can do. On my side, I prepare for the race track info so I know everything for FP. As we are so limited in laps, to make sure that when you do the first lap, you’re ready, straight on pace.”

Câmara is embracing the challenge of racing at Silverstone. The championship leader is drawing on past team experience to prepare, despite operating a new car in 2025. He noted that he and TRIDENT analysed previous performances at the track to extract any lessons that could be applied this weekend.

Yeah, as usual, work with the team, look at what we could have done better in the past few years, even if it’s a new car. But yeah, learn from the experience of the past few years and try to apply the best job that I can to this weekend.

One element that remains beyond his control, however, is the famously changeable British weather. With rain expected across the weekend, Câmara acknowledged the added complexity that the rain brings. He remained quietly optimistic about his chances.

“It’s always exciting to race in the wet, a bit more tricky. But I think you’re always prepared for both cases. So whatever happens, I think as a team, we’re ready to do a good job.”

Learning from mistakes in 2025

Rafael Câmara may lead the championship in 2025, but he remains a rookie in Formula 3. With significantly less experience than his title rivals, Tsolov and Tramnitz. This naturally means the season has been full of learning moments for the Brazilian.

When asked by a Pit Debrief representative to grade his performance so far, Câmara stayed grounded, offering a realistic reflection on his campaign to date.

“I think it was quite a good start. It’s been very positive this season so far. Still some rounds to go, so I’ll just keep that down. I’ve been working hard with the team… we are always trying to improve a bit and have a good end of the season.”

One of Câmara’s latest lessons came last weekend during the Austrian Grand Prix, where the Brazilian struggled with tyre degradation in the final stages of the race. However, he admitted that the issue was an error on his part.

“We did a quite good job until Red Bull Ring. After we were able to check more deeply… it was more on my side that I did something wrong. Just a mistake, something to learn. We move on and come back strong for the next round.”

Targeting Sprint Race success

A significant challenge for Câmara this season has been the Sprint Races. Despite leading the championship, the TRIDENT driver has managed to score only six points on Saturdays, prompting him to acknowledge Sprint Races as a personal weakness. When asked by a Pit Debrief representative if he would be changing his approach ahead of Silverstone, he remained confident in himself.

“Not really. I think just keep focusing on the moment, see what’s best to do. In the Red Bull Ring also on Saturday, I was not very good. But I was able to learn from the mistakes and do a good job with the race on Sunday.”

Jokingly, Câmara added, “Maybe I have a problem with Saturday.” Although he remained optimistic about potentially changing his luck in Silverstone.

“Maybe I have a problem with Saturday, but I think for this weekend, I will just focus as usual, try my best job I can. I hope this time will be a good one—a good Saturday.”

Managing pressure as Championship leader

Since taking the championship lead at the end of the Australian Grand Prix. Câmara has had to manage the immediate pressure and heightened expectations that come with leading the pack. Despite this, Câmara remains positive on the situation.

“It’s just a positive thing to be there, to be leading the championship. Of course, you have a bit more pressure… You just cannot really make mistakes. But on my side, I always focus on the things that are under control, take it weekend by weekend and maximise when things are not perfect.”

Following a difficult weekend in Austria, where Câmara almost lost the championship lead, he remains determined and focused.

“The last round has not been our strongest one, but we keep our heads down and come back stronger for Silverstone. Still some races to go, so there’s plenty of opportunities, points to catch.”

“We just do the job as we have been doing since the beginning of the championship—and I think we can be in a good spot at the end of the month.”
