French team ART Grand Prix competes in multiple renowned single-seater categories across Europe, but importantly in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA). In 2005, the outfit was established by current Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Frédéric Vasseur and Nicolas Todt, son of Jean Todt, as part of their ambition to expand their presence in motorsport. ART has served as a crucial stepping stone for many drivers climbing up the single-seater ladder, having nurtured many of today’s Formula 1 drivers including Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc and George Russell to name a few. Currently competing across five different series, the team’s long history has proven to show the highs and lows of motorsport. However, throughout its journey, the French outfit continues to be a well-respected and established team in the junior categories.

ART made its FRECA debut in 2021 with a two full-time drivers that year. Immediately making an impact in the series with Grégoire Saucy at the wheel, ART secured their first Drivers’ title with the Swiss. Since then, the team has always consistently remained within the top ten of the Teams’ Championship. For 2025, ART’s FRECA lineup features: Kanato Le, Taito Kato and Evan Giltaire. Currently sitting fifth in the teams’ standings with 179 points, we take a look at ART’s 2025 FRECA campaign so far.

Making his single-seater debut in 2022, the 18 year-old raced in the Ginetta Junior Championship with Elite Motorsport—managing to secure two wins, one pole position and three podiums to finish seventh in the championship that year. Le first joined Hitech for two races in the Formula 4 UAE Championship Trophy round, where he managed to secure himself a podium finish. However, the following year, he returned to the team to compete in both the F4 UAE and British F4 Championships. Finding particular success in British F4, he claimed two victories and two additional podiums to finish seventh overall in the Drivers’ Standings.

2024 marked a busy year for the Japanese driver as he made appearances in four different championships: Formula Regional Middle East (FRMEC), FRECA, GB3 and the prestigious Macau Grand Prix. That year, Le earned his maiden FRECA podium with G4 Racing during the round at Paul Ricard. After joining ART for the Macau Grand Prix, it was soon announced that the Japanese driver would join the French outfit for his second FRECA campaign.

With 24 points to his name, Le has experienced a season with its ups and downs so far. Having scored points only on four occasions, he achieved his best finish of the season during Race 2 at Spa where he crossed the line fourth. As four rounds remain, the 18 year-old still has enough opportunities to improve on his best result and aim for his first trip to the podium this season.

Taito Kato (#89)

Kato, who is a Japanese national, races under the French flag. Although he primarily karted in Japan, the 17 year-old made his overseas debut in 2022 when he competed in a single round of the FFSA Karting Championship. Soon enough, the Japanese driver made the step up to single-seaters in 2024. Kato made his debut in the French F4 Championship and raced with the FFSA Academy. Marking an extremely successful season, Kato went on to claim five wins and seven podiums to emerge as the 2024 French F4 Champion. Having impressed many, ART announced the young talent’s move to the team ahead of 2025, as he was set to compete in FRMEC with them as well.

In FRMEC, the Japanese driver secured one podium and managed to accumulate 75 points, finishing twelfth in the standings. His rookie FRECA campaign, meanwhile, has been impressive, highlighted by a string of consistent points finishes and two podium finishes. At just 17 years-old, the Japanese driver has a long single-seater career ahead of him and is certainly a talent to watch as he continues to climb through the ranks.

Evan Giltaire (#95)

For Giltaire, consistency has been key to staying within the top ten of the Drivers’ Standings. The Frenchman made his single-seater debut in 2023, competing in the French F4 Championship with the FFSA Academy. Impressively, Giltaire clinched the title in his rookie season with six wins, eight pole positions and seven additional podiums to narrowly edge out Enzo Peugeot by four points. Later that year, he made his FRECA debut as he took part in two rounds with ART. For his first full-season FRECA campaign, he returned to the French outfit in 2024, securing one win and one podium to finish seventh overall with 97 points to his name. Additionally, he joined the French team for the 2024 Macau Grand Prix.

Ahead of his return to the FRECA grid, 2025 started off on the right foot for the Frenchman. Crowned the 2025 Formula Regional Middle East Champion, Giltaire claimed three wins, five pole positions and five podiums to emerge champion ahead of Freddie Slater. Building on his strong FRMEC form, the Frenchman began his FRECA season at Misano perfectly, claiming victory in Race 1 and a second place finish in Race 2. While he’d managed to take the championship lead early on, since then, Giltaire has slipped down the order in the Drivers’ Standings and currently sits sixth. Even though consistent points finishes has helped him stay within the top ten, the 18 year-old will be hoping his return to the podium comes soon in order of any chance to improve his final standings in the championship this year.
