Nick Cassidy claimed an impressive victory in the round 15 Marvel Fantastic Four London E-Prix race at the Excel Centre in London, marking a perfect start to his final weekend with Jaguar TCS Racing. Speaking in the post-race press conference attended by Pit Debrief, Cassidy reflected on the significance of the win, which he described as the top victory with Jaguar TCS Racing.

“It’s really unbelievable how the race played out and also these last few events,” Cassidy said, after claiming victory in round 11 in Shanghai and round 14 in Berlin. “Not always it’s worked and there have been difficulties, but more or less it’s gotten consistent points again. I just feel, you know, London always kicks me in the nuts somehow, and I was kind of expecting it. I’m relieved that I’m finally at a race here, that’s quite gratifying, and we can show the performance we had.

Jaguar’s pace seals the victory

Cassidy credited Jaguar TCS Racing for providing a car capable of fighting for victory from the start. “The car that I had in free practice, in qualifying, and in the race was really unbelievable, and that’s credit to the team. I’m super proud to have a race win and a race this season that we went on pace,” he said.

He contrasted this win with earlier successes, explaining that while some victories relied heavily on strategy or weather conditions, this triumph was based on pure speed and efficiency. “Before the end of the season and coming to see you guys there, it was super nice to tick that box,” he added.

Attack mode strategy key to beating Nyck de Vries

The New Zealander admitted that overtaking Nyck de Vries was far from easy despite the advantage of attack mode. “Honestly, it wasn’t easy. Nyck’s a very hard guy to pass. He races hard. I think the difference today was the first stage of the race, but also the pace that we could have in the pitstop window,” Cassidy said.

He highlighted a crucial moment during the pitstop phase. “I was very worried that we were undercut by one lap to guys that were only three or four positions behind us. The key for me, in all honesty, was when I came out of the pitstop, I jumped Stoffel as he took attack… As soon as his attack ran out, then I knew it was game on and we were in a good position.”

A special win in his final Jaguar weekend

This victory holds particular significance for Cassidy as he prepares to leave Jaguar TCS Racing. “Genuinely at the top,” he said when asked where this win ranks among his five with the team. “It’s not really sunk in, but it’s been a tough one, as I said, coming back to this building 12 months on. Gone through a lot this season. It’s hard, obviously, knowing it’s the last weekend. My family here, the team’s got a lot of good partners here. It just makes it incredibly special. When you can do it with a fast car and the team operating flawlessly, then it’s very nice.”

Looking ahead, Cassidy remains optimistic about his relationship with the London circuit. “Coming here is one of my favorite tracks. I think, qualifying-wise, I’ve got easily my best qualifying average here. I feel very strong on my lap here, so I really enjoy coming to this track,” he concluded.
