Race winners Jayden Ojeda and Paul Lucchitti will continue their partnership in the 2026 season of GT World Challenge (GTWC) Australia powered by AWS with Tigani Motorsport. The pair will once again drive the team’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 for the full championship campaign.
Having already built a strong relationship across multiple seasons, Ojeda and Lucchitti aim to build on their previous success and challenge for further victories and podium finishes during the upcoming year.
Ojeda and Lucchitti to continue building success together in 2026 GTWC Australia with Tigani Motorsport
Ojeda and Lucchitti first teamed up in the championship in 2024 and have steadily established themselves as a competitive pairing. Across the past two seasons, the duo has secured six podium finishes and two race victories.
Their first campaign together ended with a seventh-place finish in the standings, while the following season saw them improve significantly to secure third overall in the championship.
One of their most notable results came during the Endurance Cup round at Sydney Motorsport Park in 2024. The pair claimed victory in the race, a result that ultimately helped them finish second in the Endurance Cup standings that year.
Their continued development and strong results have made them one of the more promising pairings on the grid heading into the 2026 season.
Ojeda’s expanding GT career
Since transitioning into GT racing on a near full-time basis in 2023, Ojeda has quickly become one of the most prominent GT drivers in Australia. His performances have earned him recognition as an official Mercedes-AMG Junior Driver Programme member.
Over the last two years, Ojeda has gained experience in several major international championships, including Asian Le Mans Series, GT World Challenge Asia and GT World Challenge America. He has also competed in prominent endurance events such as the Bathurst 12 Hour and the Gulf 12 Hours.
Ojeda expressed enthusiasm about continuing the partnership and tackling another season with the team.
“It’s great to be returning to GT World Challenge Australia in 2026 with Paul and the Tigani Motorsport team. I’ve really enjoyed the past couple of seasons together and I’m looking forward to continuing that relationship and pushing for even better results this year,” Ojeda said.
“Paul’s development as a driver has been fantastic to watch. He’s come a long way in a short time and it’s been rewarding to be part of that journey. I’m excited to see how much further he can progress this season.”
“I’ve got a very busy calendar across multiple championships this year, including Supercars, and that suits me. I tend to perform my best when I’m racing regularly, so having plenty of seat time throughout the season is something I’m really looking forward to.”
“It’s also been impressive to see Tigani Motorsport grow into the team it is today. Their first Pro-Am entry with Mercedes-AMG at the Bathurst 12 Hour and expanding the parts business in Australia are huge achievements.”
Lucchitti continuing his development
Lucchitti began his GT racing journey in 2023 when he joined Tigani Motorsport to compete in the Trophy Series with an Audi R8 LMS Evo II.
During that campaign he achieved one race win, seven additional podium finishes, three pole positions and a fastest lap on his way to second place in class.
He then stepped up to partner Ojeda in GT World Challenge Australia in 2024. Under the guidance of team principal Nathan Tigani, Lucchitti has continued to develop his skills and establish himself as a competitive GT driver.
Lucchitti also highlighted the strength of the partnership and his continued development within the team.
“I’m really excited to be continuing with Jayden again in 2026. We’ve built a strong relationship over the past couple of seasons and I’m looking forward to building on what we achieved last year,” Lucchitti said.
“The team has done an incredible job with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 and we’ve already shown what we’re capable of with a couple of wins and plenty of podiums. Hopefully we can take another step forward this year.
“I’m still early in my GT racing journey, but with the support of Tigani Motorsport and Jayden, I feel like I am getting better with every event that I attend, and I am hopeful I can contribute even more this year.
“Working alongside Jayden has been a great experience for my development as a driver. His experience both here and internationally has been really valuable, and I’m keen to keep learning and improving this season.”
