After a very strong inaugural round in Brazil, Porsche drivers Wehrlein and Müller are excited to get back behind the wheel at Formula E Mexico City E-Prix.
High expectations after a successful debut
The German manufacturer celebrates its seventy fifth year of motorsport activity, with the Mexican race the first competition Porsche will partake in in this important anniversary year. This landmark race will take place at a track where historically Porsche has experienced many successful moments.
In fact, Wehrlein holds the record for most pole positions at the track with four, and has additionally won twice at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Two double podiums have also been recently secured by the German outlet. In particular the latest came during Season 11, featuring Da Costa in P2 and Wehrlein in third, whereas the other instance dates back to 2022. On that occasion, the German driver had taken the top spot, followed by at-time teammate Andre Lotterer in P2.
The current season is also smiling to Porsche, with both drivers achieving a top five finish in the inaugural round at São Paulo. The entire Porsche family as a whole experienced a strong start to the 2025-2026 season, as Porsche-powered driver Jake Dennis took the top spot with a strong performance.

Wehrlein is feeling rather positive ahead of his first time with the new Porsche Gen3Evo in the Formula E Mexico City E-Prix, especially after the very strong debut in December.
lI’m really looking forward to going back to Mexico. It’s one of my favourite places to race. We’ve always been competitive there in the past, and the fans are simply outstanding.”
“I’m excited for the next race weekend. In São Paulo, the pace was strong, which gives us something solid to build on and I’m already looking forward to getting back in the car.”
Nico Müller is looking forward to his first time in America as a factory Porsche driver after his Season 11 Andretti experience, where he had achieved a top ten finish.
“The anticipation for Mexico is definitely high. The circuit has always been a good place for Porsche, so expectations are accordingly strong. Mexico also holds many positive memories for me personally. We already showed a strong performance there last year – and that was only my second race with the Porsche 99X Electric.”
“So we can look forward to the weekend, even though the competition will, of course, not be standing still. We need to do our homework. In addition, the removal of the chicane means the layout will not be entirely the same, and we have to prepare for that.”
In spite of the new track layout, the Swiss driver is hopeful for a positive result.
“We are highly motivated. We want to approach the task flat out and, ideally, significantly add to our points tally in the second race of the season to start the year on a positive note.”
