Dutch Formula E driver Robin Frijns will depart Envision Racing following the conclusion of his second stint with the team, bringing an end to a partnership that has spanned six seasons and delivered multiple race victories.

The announcement marks the end of Frijns’ most recent two-season spell with Envision, which began when he rejoined the squad at the start of Season 10. The 34-year-old had previously returned to the team after a campaign with ABT CUPRA, having originally established himself as a key figure in Envision’s Formula E programme during an initial four-season run.

During his tenure with the Envision Racing, Frijns proved himself as one of Formula E’s most consistent performers, securing two race victories and accumulating 10 podium finishes across his six seasons. His contributions have been instrumental in establishing Envision Racing as a competitive force in the all-electric championship.

Team reflects on successful partnership

Team Principal Sylvain Fillipi praised Frijns’ contribution to the team’s success over their extended collaboration.

“Throughout Robin’s six seasons with Envision Racing, he has delivered excellent results and cracking drives, and we have thoroughly enjoyed working with such a talented driver,” stated Fillipi. “His two victories and numerous podiums stand-out, but also his raw speed and ability to deliver a lap when it mattered. He’s been a fierce competitor and a valued part of our team.”

Fillipi acknowledged that the decision comes as Formula E continues to evolve as a championship, suggesting that both parties view this as an opportune moment for change.

“Formula E is an ever-evolving championship, and for us, the time has come for an exciting new change. We look forward to announcing our Season 12 line-up shortly.”

Leadership expresses gratitude

Franz Jung, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Envision Racing, emphasised Frijns’ integral role in the team’s achievements since his arrival in Season 5.

“Robin has been an integral part of our success here at Envision Racing, going back to Season 5 when he first joined the team,” added Jung, CEO. “He has achieved a lot of brilliant results, and we thank him for his commitment to our team over the six seasons. We wish him well in his future endeavours.”

With Frijns’ departure confirmed, attention now turns to Envision Racing’s plans for Season 12. The team has indicated that details of their driver line-up will be revealed soon, as they prepare for the next chapter in their Formula E journey.
