Rodin Motorsport head into the 2026 Formula 2 (F2) season with a promising driver line-up and the ambition to transform their potential into a genuine championship challenge.
Although the team finished seventh in the 2025 Teams’ Standings, that result did not fully reflect the level of competitiveness they demonstrated throughout the campaign.
Following three days of pre-season testing, Sporting Director Benn Huntingford shared his thoughts on Rodin’s progress and expectations heading into the 2026 F2 season.
“Overall, it’s been really positive for us,” Huntingford said. “We got to try a lot of things, and made some good progress with the quali setup. We’ve also been working on the race runs as well, so we’re happy with everything we’ve achieved so far.”
Their driver line-up
Martinius Stenshorne joined Rodin for the final two rounds of the 2025 FIA Formula 2 season after contesting four rounds with TRIDENT, following the completion of his Formula 3 campaign. The late-season appearances provided valuable experience, which he has continued to build on during testing.
“Martinius has been doing good. It’s good to get to grips with the new features of the F2 car and what he has to deal with when the drivers step up from F3, just getting used to the carbon brakes and other stuff like that. So he’s been adapting really well to the F2 machinery.”
On the other side of the garage, Alexander Dunne enters the new season with expectations of mounting a title challenge after an impressive rookie campaign in 2025.
Dunne quickly established himself as one of the most impressive newcomers on the grid, combining outright pace with maturity beyond his experience. Across the season, he secured multiple victories and podium finishes, demonstrating both his qualifying strength and his ability to manage races under pressure. Whether fighting through the pack in feature races or converting strong grid positions into silverware, Dunne consistently showed the race craft and composure required to compete at the front of the field.
After securing multiple victories last year, Huntingford backed his driver to replicate that success this season for Rodin.
“Alex has been really good, really focused, just working through the test programme, doing what we need to do, learning what we need to learn, and then focusing on putting a strong season together.”
Looking ahead to Melbourne
Huntingford acknowledged that testing in Barcelona presents a vastly different environment to what Rodin will encounter in Melbourne for the opening round of the 2026 FIA F2 season.
With Albert Park’s unique semi-street circuit characteristics, not everything trialled during pre-season testing will translate directly to the demands of the Melbourne weekend.
Huntingford expressed confidence that Rodin Motorsport is well prepared for the 2026 F2 season opener.
“Mostly we’ve been working on stuff that will be used in general, a few little bits that we’re quite pleased with and hopefully that’ll come to fruition when we get to qualifying in Melbourne.”
