Rodin Motorsport’s Alex Ninovic made GB3 Championship history at Donington Park by becoming the first driver ever to clinch the title with one full round in 2025 still remaining. The young Australian’s remarkable weekend — featuring two commanding victories and a composed, point-secure finish in Race 3 — crowned a season defined by precision, patience, and unrelenting consistency.
Ninovic elated after “super pleasing” weekend at Donington Park
Ninovic’s initial reaction to his championship win revealed a young driver still coming to terms with the moment. However, he admitted that his strong performance pleased him greatly.
“Yeah, I don’t know how to explain it, really. I think I’m still in shock, really, to come away with the championship today. I probably wasn’t expecting it, but it all sort of fell into place quite nicely this weekend. And to come away with that win and the championship this afternoon is super pleasing.”
A strong momentum secured the title
Every championship campaign has a turning point, and for Ninovic, it arrived midway through the season. After establishing a rhythm of front-row starts and strong race finishes, he began to sense the potential for something special. From that moment, he focused on maintaining momentum rather than chasing perfection.
“I think after the halfway point in the season, we sort of saw that we had trends of being right at the front and top qualifying. So from there, we sort of kept that momentum all the way to this weekend. And yeah, it’s given us the opportunity to be at the front end and to fight for the wins, which obviously rewards you with the big points.”
A collective effort rewarded
While his on-track performances looked effortless, Ninovic was quick to highlight the vast network of people and preparation underpinning his success. From physical training to technical refinement, his journey was one of dedication from both driver and team.
“Yeah, definitely. Behind the scenes, you know, there’s everyone back home that have been giving me the support, inspiration. And then you’ve got [to focus on] Andrew and Ollie from there, giving me all the training and getting me prepared for the weekends perfectly on point.”
“And yeah, and then everyone from the race team back in Farnham, you know, they’re putting in effort 24/7, making sure that they’re slowly improving the car and making it better each time we go out. So yeah, it’s not just as simple as it looks when we turn up to the track, but behind the scenes, it gets pretty complicated.”
When asked about how he planned to celebrate, he replied, “That’s a good question. Probably have some nice dinner, depending on what time I get back home. And then, yeah, try and get over the jet lag and then visit as many family and friends and all those people that are back home supporting me probably straight away.”
Looking ahead to Monza and a strong end to the season
With the title secured, Ninovic now turns his focus to the championship finale at Monza. Freed from the weight of expectation, he sees the final round as an opportunity to experiment, develop, and prepare for the next stage of his career.
“Yeah, definitely. Monza will be exciting. Having wrapped up the championship, it gives us a bit of leeway to maybe try some new things, test some stuff out that maybe the team wasn’t feeling too adventurous on. And then, yeah, from there, we think about next year and the possibilities that we might have and then getting prepared for that and properly getting sorted and being in the right spot to start the season off strong, depending on what that is.”
For Ninovic, the work of a champion never truly stops. Even in the afterglow of victory, his focus is already shifting to what lies ahead. When asked if future clarity on his future would prove beneficial, he agreed.
“Yeah, definitely. Yeah, you need to get on top of it as soon as you can, because the earlier you can start preparing yourself, the better. And it just sets you up in a better position to try and fight for the championships.”
