Formula One is one of the toughest sports due to the extreme speed and demanding strength the body is demands. Lance Stroll, Aston Martin’s driver, shares his thoughts about his job and his team.

F1 as a normal job

Lance Stroll approaches the challenges of Formula 1 with characteristic composure, recognizing that every sport demands both physical and mental endurance. The Singapore Grand Prix, known for its punishing heat and intensity, stands out as one of the toughest events of the season.

For Stroll, meticulous preparation and consistent training are simply part of the job. Earlier in the year, he was still waiting to spend time in the simulator for the 2026 project, underscoring how quickly the sport is evolving and how teams are already looking ahead to the next generation of cars.

“Yeah, for sure. Like any sport, it has its challenges. We come to Singapore and I think physically, mentally, it’s one of the most demanding races of the year”.

“It’s part of the job. You have to train well and prepare as well as you can and get on with it.”

Aston Martin had a really difficult season

Lance Stroll remains cautious about Aston Martin’s current trajectory, admitting that progress has not fully matched the expectations set earlier in the season.

Stroll hasn’t had so far the chance to thoroughly test out his future Aston Martin F1 challenger for 2026, however he is not fully convinced.

I’ve had a bit of time but not much.”

While the team continues to push for improvements, he suggests that the development path may not yet be delivering the desired results.

“I think the thoughts are still the same. I don’t think the cars are going in the direction we all want them to go in”

In Formula 1, the impact of new regulations is always relative, depending largely on how competitive a team is. Teams that are already strong tend to embrace changes, while others may struggle to adapt.

Lance Stroll reflects on this dynamic, noting that the conversation around next year’s rules is constant within the team. From a driver’s perspective, he understands that if the current season does not go smoothly, it can be a difficult and frustrating experience, especially when the car’s performance is inconsistent. The challenge lies in balancing immediate results with preparation for future seasons, a delicate task that demands focus, patience, and the ability to adapt quickly in an ever-evolving sport.

“No, but it’s a relative game. If you’re competitive as a team, then whoever is competitive as a team will love the new regulations”

“We are talking about it a lot, but as a driver, I can imagine in a year that it’s not going that well, that it’s not that easy this year with the car”
