The 2026 F4 Central European Zone (CEZ) Rookie Championship will go down to the final round at the Hungaroring, with Markas Silkunas, Simon Rechenmacher and Georgiy Zasov the only drivers still capable of claiming the title.

Twenty-six rookies have scored points during the season, but a maximum of 75 remains available at the finale. Silkunas consequently heads to Hungary with the strongest position on 279 points, while Rechenmacher trails by 24 and Zasov sits 46 behind the leader. Their battle forms one of several championship fights still unresolved before the 23–25 October finale.

The trio also featured prominently during the penultimate round at Brno, where Silkunas retained the classification lead despite Rechenmacher remaining close and Zasov significantly strengthening his challenge with a maiden overall victory. The Brno weekend left only those three drivers in Rookie title contention as the championship prepared for its final round.

Silkunas takes 24-point advantage to Hungaroring

Silkunas leads the Rookie standings with 279 points after combining six class victories with another six podium finishes during his first F4 CEZ campaign.

The Jenzer Motorsport driver has also translated his Rookie form into strong outright results and currently occupies fifth in the overall Drivers’ Championship. His consistency has proved particularly important, allowing him to maintain an advantage despite Rechenmacher recording more Rookie victories.

Silkunas strengthened his position during the second half of the season. At Most, he left the weekend on 193 points after extending his lead, with the Round 4 standings placing him 37 points clear of Rechenmacher. Brno then brought two further Rookie podiums and another sixth-place finish overall, taking him to 279 before the finale.

However, a 24-point advantage still leaves little room for a difficult weekend. With 75 points available in Hungary, Silkunas cannot simply protect his position and will need another consistent set of results to keep his rivals behind.

Rechenmacher remains closest challenger

Rechenmacher enters the finale second on 255 points and represents the most immediate threat to Silkunas.

The Cram Motorsport driver has taken eight Rookie victories, two more than the championship leader, alongside another two podium finishes. His greater number of wins demonstrates the pace he has shown throughout the campaign, although Silkunas’ consistency has allowed the Jenzer driver to remain ahead over the full season.

Rechenmacher was still 37 points behind following Most, but he reduced that margin at Brno despite failing to take the championship lead. His 255-point total leaves him close enough to overhaul Silkunas without requiring an extraordinary combination of results elsewhere.

The Hungaroring therefore presents a straightforward opportunity. Rechenmacher needs to outscore Silkunas by at least 25 points across the finale to take the Rookie crown, meaning every session could become significant if the pair remain closely matched.

Zasov keeps title hopes alive after Brno breakthrough

Zasov faces the most difficult task of the three contenders, but his recent form ensures he remains mathematically involved.

The Jenzer Motorsport driver sits third with 233 points, 46 behind teammate Silkunas. Zasov has secured three Rookie victories and seven additional podium finishes, while his biggest result of the campaign arrived at Brno when he claimed his first outright F4 CEZ win.

That breakthrough formed part of an important weekend for his title hopes. The Brno round saw Zasov close to within 46 points of the Rookie lead after entering the event further behind Silkunas and Rechenmacher.

The deficit still means Zasov requires a major swing at the Hungaroring. Even a perfect weekend would leave him dependent on Silkunas scoring fewer than 30 points, but his recent outright victory gives him reason to approach the finale with confidence.

Häkkinen leads fight behind title contenders

Ella Häkkinen sits fourth in the Rookie standings with 172 points and can no longer win the championship, although she still has a mathematical opportunity to move into the top three.

The gap to Zasov stands at 61 points, leaving third place difficult but possible with 75 available. Behind her, Erik Poulsen, Antonio Errigo, Dean Pedersen and Leo Nilsson remain relatively closely grouped, meaning several positions further down the classification could also change during the final weekend.

That depth reflects the size of the Rookie field throughout 2026. Many entrants arrived with limited Formula 4 experience and faced the challenge of learning new circuits while adapting to the category, but 26 drivers have still managed to score Rookie points across the first five rounds.

The classification has therefore produced a broader fight than simply the title battle, even if Silkunas, Rechenmacher and Zasov now stand alone as the three remaining championship contenders.

Brno leaves title battle finely poised

The penultimate round played a significant role in shaping the final championship picture. Silkunas left Most with 193 points, Rechenmacher followed on 156 and Zasov sat third on 139, but all three increased their totals substantially at Brno.

Silkunas added 86 points to reach 279, while Rechenmacher climbed to 255. Zasov made the largest relative gain among the leading trio and moved to 233, aided by his maiden outright victory.

As a result, the championship leader now holds a smaller margin than he carried earlier in the campaign. Silkunas still controls his own destiny, but both rivals remain close enough to capitalise if the Jenzer driver encounters trouble during the finale.

The title fight also sits alongside an increasingly competitive overall championship, where Jenzer Motorsport has played a major role throughout 2026. The season has featured a deep F4 CEZ grid and several championship battles, with the Rookie classification providing another example of that depth.

Hungaroring to decide Rookie champion

The 2026 F4 CEZ season concludes at the Hungaroring from 23–25 October, returning the championship to the Hungarian circuit after a two-year absence.

Silkunas arrives with the advantage on 279 points, Rechenmacher follows with 255 and Zasov remains within mathematical reach on 233. With 75 points still available, none of the three can secure the championship before the final weekend begins.

For Silkunas, consistency has provided the foundation for his lead. Rechenmacher has accumulated the most Rookie victories, while Zasov heads to Hungary buoyed by his first outright F4 CEZ success. After five rounds, those different paths have left all three with an opportunity to end the season as the 2026 Rookie Champion.
