Dutch racing prospect Laurens van Hoepen has been confirmed to remain with Trident Motorsport for the final two events of the 2025 F2 Championship. The continuation marks a vote of confidence in the driver following his maiden appearance in the series.
Van Hoepen made his maiden F2 outing at the Baku round in September, competing for the Italian team across both races of the weekend. Despite a challenging debut, he finished in 17th position in each race as he accustomed himself to the demands of motorsport’s primary junior single-seater category.
Optimism for the closing rounds
The driver expressed enthusiasm about his return to competition, stating that his recent experience will prove instrumental as the season reaches its climax. “After the experience in Baku, I’ll be back in an FIA F2 Championship car at Lusail and Yas Marina,” van Hoepen reflected. “I can’t wait to get back on track, where the keyword for me will be consistency. My goal will be to be consistently fast.”
His remarks highlight an intention to build upon his debut performance and demonstrate progression across the two remaining events in the Middle East.
Trident’s backing
Trident Team Manager Giacomo Ricci endorsed the decision to continue with Van Hoepen, emphasising the development pathway the team envisions for the young driver. Ricci stated that the team aims to support Van Hoepen’s growth within the championship whilst targeting competitive performances in both races.
“Laurens Van Hoepen’s positive debut in Baku with Trident Motorsport in the FIA F2 Championship naturally continues,” Ricci explained. “We will field the Dutch driver in the final two events of the season as well, with the aim of helping him grow in the category and be consistently competitive. I believe all the ingredients are there to do well.”
The partnership will now look towards the Lusail and Yas Marina circuits as van Hoepen seeks to make a stronger impression in the closing stages of his debut campaign.
