Tigani Motorsport will once again field James and Theo Koundouris in the 2026 GT World Challenge (GTWC) Australia powered by AWS, with the veteran brothers competing in the Am Cup aboard their Mercedes-AMG GT3. Both drivers bring decades of experience to the grid, making them among the most seasoned competitors in Australian motorsport.

Since their debut in 2003, the Koundouris brothers have accumulated nearly 600 races combined. Their racing journey began at the Bathurst 24 Hour, where the pair competed in separate cars before gradually joining forces in events such as the Bathurst 12 Hour and GT World Challenge Australia.

Over the past two seasons, the brothers have been a consistent force in the Am Cup, securing 13 podiums in 17 races and establishing themselves as key contenders in the class.

Proven track record in GT and Production Cars

The Koundouris brothers’ careers span multiple Australian categories, including GT, Production Cars, and Porsche Carrera Cup, highlighting their versatility behind the wheel. Last year, James and Theo scored their first series win at GT Festival The Bend, helping them secure third place in the Am Cup standings—mirroring their 2024 Sprint Cup finish.

For James, early career success came in the Australian Nations Cup Group Two class, followed by seven Trophy class victories the subsequent year. Highlights of his career include three 12 Hour class wins in 2015, 2018, and 2022 alongside Theo, and multiple GT Am Cup class victories in 2010 and 2016.

Theo’s early career included a second-place finish in the Nations Cup Trophy Class with 13 podiums in a single season, followed by further podiums in 2006 as part of Australian GT. It was not until 2014 that he enjoyed a run of individual victories, including two wins in the Australian GT Trophy Class and three more the following year, cementing his reputation as a strong Am Cup competitor.
