Rodin Motorsport had an overall disappointing weekend at the 2025 F3 Spanish GP with Callum Voisin the only driver of the trio to score points. The team struggled for pace throughout, with Bilinski qualifying P12, Voisin P17, and Sharp P18.

Voisin’s sole point came in the Feature Race, where he originally finished P11. A post-race penalty for James Wharton promoted him to P10, earning the final point. Bilinski crashed out in both the Sprint and Feature Races, while Sharp finished outside the points in both.

Tricky weekend across the board for Rodin

After the 2025 Spanish GP, Voisin stated that all Rodin Motorsport drivers lacked significant pace and struggled throughout the weekend in Barcelona—an unusual dip compared to previous rounds. Rodin currently sits 5th in the 2025 FIA F3 Teams’ Championship with 90 points overall.

Barcelona marked their worst weekend this season, as the team usually scores points in both races. Notably, Voisin secured a P2 finish in the Feature Race at Bahrain, while Bilinski earned P2 in the Sprint Race at Monaco.

“Overall, a pretty disappointing weekend,” said Voisin. “I think it was tricky for all three of us. As a team we didn’t really have that much pace, we’ve always struggled a little bit around Barcelona, but it was a little bit worse than I thought it was going to be, which was a shame.”

“When it’s super close in Qualifying, a lot of people have done laps around here, and if you’re not a hundred percent here, it is bound to be tricky.

Voisin admits the pace was lacking in both races over the 2025 Spanish GP. He, however, remains optimistic and looks forward to the upcoming rounds in the FIA Formula 3 Championship.

“I think the races were decent, but we just lacked a little bit of pace overall. It was great to get a point in the Feature, but I am looking forward to moving on to the Red Bull Ring and Silverstone.”

“We’ve had some pretty good results round there over the last few years, so I am happy to be moving on and getting a little break.”

Voisin’s troubles started in the Qualifying session

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is known for its tough tyre management and degradation. Voisin admitted he didn’t get the right start to his qualifying lap on Friday. However, he was pleased with the progress he made in the Feature Race and the valuable experience the team gained.

“It was a shame in quali, I didn’t quite get the right slipstream, so I was a little bit down anyway before the lap even started. Not ideal to be honest, but as I said, happy to get a point in the Feature Race.”

“We maximised that and drove pretty well, so it’s all good learning for the rest of the year. Just looking forward to having a little bit of a break and to come back fighting in Spielberg which I am sure we will.”

“I think it was good to learn a little bit more about the harder tyre, especially in the race run,” said Voisin. “We seemed pretty punchy on that, relatively.”

Future tracks are set to suit the Rodin Motorsport cars better

Although the weekend in Barcelona was largely unsuccessful for Rodin, Voisin expressed confidence that they will perform “quite well” at tracks better suited to their car.

“Once we get on to tracks that suit our car a little bit more, we are going to be quite good. I have no worries, but obviously, it’s a shame to leave the weekend without no points.”

He acknowledges making mistakes and admits the car hasn’t always performed at its best. Post Barcelona, which marked the halfway point of the 2025 FIA F3 season, he currently sits 9th in the standings with 41 points, 64 behind championship leader Rafael Câmara.

“My seasons not started completely yet,” said Voisin. “We’ve had flashes of good speed, I’ve made mistakes, and sometimes that car has not been where it should be.”

Voisin remains focused and confident for the rest of the season. Although it has been frustrating with the challenges so far, he exclaimed that he looks forward to the remainder of the year, confident they will be among the top contenders.

“It’s been a mix of things and it’s been frustrating. I felt in Monaco and here we should’ve bagged a lot more points, but we’ve had some issues out of my control which led to that not happening.”

“It’s been frustrating, but at the end of the day, the pace is definitely there, and I am happy with how I am driving, and that’s all you can do as a driver. So I am looking forward to making the most of the rest of the year, and I am sure we will be right up there.”
